OMG, Formula Women being advertised
Yes, the Formula Women bandwagon is starting to swing.
My darling wife comes home this evening and greets me with the news that our local radio station (BRMB in Birmingham) has been advertising women to take part in this event. She did'nt pay much attention to the advert until they mentioned the RX8. By then the ad finished. I've had it on most of the night (shift .... er...) and not heard it. Maybe its targetting the main audience (women I suppose) at peak rush hour times. Shes already thinking about entering (vague details of a race track) and asked if I'd mind. Still thinking on a response.
I'll wait for the hairdresser jibes from work collegues (as if the delays aren't bad enough) as soon as they hear it.

I don't understand this.
There is woman here who entered and has been to the first selection day, she has also already recieved notification that she has made it through to the second round.
As far as she knows the preliminary stage is over and no new entrants were being allowed.
She's checking whith her competition contact now, so I'll give you an update when I get some news.

Yes, heard the Ad for myself today at 18:20hrs. They clearly state that they are looking for female entrants now. Calls to the hot line are a bargain £1.50/min. Call lasts 2 mins. So thats £3 for a blast around a track in an 8. Fair dink'um.:D

Yep, apparently the last few heats are being run over the next three weeks.
On the first heat they don't even get to drive a car if they don't pass the fitness and pycological tests. If they pass these they go once round the track with an instructor in a standard car (can't remember the make, work colleague is not in today) to asses their driving skill / potential. She wasn't allowed to take it over 4,000 revs and the instructor was feeding her info all the time she was driving.
In all the other heats they drive MX-5's, and only get to race an RX-8 in the final showdown.
My work colleage was also telling me about the entrants who ranged from statuesque model types comaring nail polish to people who obviously just wanted to get on TV. Most don't apparently even make it throught the first half of the day.
Some of them turn up and drive like they are in Tesco's carpark. :D
As I mentioned earlier she's already through to the second round, she loves to drive fast and feels very restricted in her Clio.
Managed to scare the **** out of me when I had a lift with her though.
Single mother of two wanting to be a pro race driver, all power to her. I for one am looking forward to following her progress on the show.
