Angry Is No-one Happy????

Hi every1,

I`m just sitting here wondering if there is any1 on this whole forum who is actually happy?????
Every single thread or post i seem to read has every1 whinging about something.
For every1 who has pre-oredered i fully understand your frustrations with the delays etc, however we will all soon have our babies and let me tell you all that once they are here you`ll not want to let them go.
I`ve been extremely lucky in having driven both the 192ps and the 231ps, they are both amazing the keep on going and going and stick the road and circuits like glue. ( A real enthusiats car).
So lets all lokk forward to an early Xmas this year and thank santa for our presents a month early this year.
I hope you`ve all been good girls and boys this year as santa is always watching you

I tried to get the moaning removed or at least dulled down somewhat last week - it didn't work!

I'm happy, I've read most posts on here and still can't wait for my 8.

I find most of the groaning is something out of nothing.

I bet you that when the cars start arriving this forums tone will change completely.

Hi all..... new member here....

On the subject of being happy... I'm mega happy.... I've been waiting for this car since I first saw it in 1999 I think it was...... so long ago now.......... I've must have read every mag' and web site on this machine and NOTHING has put me off....... Ok mpg is not great but if it's even half the fun to drive as everyone seems to be saying I'll be a happy man.

I've got a test drive of one in FRF Mazda Swansea next week....... can't wait.

Have a Titanium HI-Power with leather and Sat Nav on order... Mazda tells me mine should arrive in November sometime..... but what's a few more months... they say good things are worth waiting for.?!

Believe it or not I am very happy with the car, my only gripe has been the lackof communication.

Smile Well, I'm 100% happy

This morning's test drive of a red hi-power at Mazda Newbury has confirmed that this car is fan-bleeding-tastic and I simply can't wait till it gets here.

No I'm not happy.

Sorry to keep banging on about this but it won't go away however much you all ignore it: the car Mazda are delivering is not the car we ordered.

Yesterday's Autocar performance results were the final confirmation for me - the Euro "high" power RX-8 produces about 200 hp and is no faster than my early 90's Honda Prelude. I wasn't surprised by this in the light of the dyno results in the main forum but I am very dissapointed.

I feel the same about this as I would if Mazda had suddenly demanded an extra £3000 for the car - that is the effect of the performance decrease on the value for money we are getting here.

And the worst thing is that, much as I might want to, I can't bring myself to just walk away from this because I still can't think of another car that I want at this price.

Maybe this can all be solved by a test drive - I'll be so bowled over by it I'll forget all about the specs. But no sign of that yet from my useless dealer.

I've seen more threads complaining about 'moaning' than I have seen actual complaining in the last few weeks. Actually I thought the tone was more upbeat lately.
Why are we wasting space with threads like this? Not everone has been lucky enough to get a test drive, and any gripes about lack of, or conflicting information from Mazda and dealers are fairly justified.
This is a forum for sharing information, good or bad, I agree we will only really make our minds up once we own our cars, but in the meantime I think everyone is entitled to express their opinion about their experiences.
Is it worth carrying on with this thread?

???

are you kidding no faster than your prelude?......I owned a 2000 Prelude and this car would kill it in a straight line and around the corners..........I have looked at all the stats from Europe to NA and the car does roughly 0-60 in secs?......fast enough....but no doubt the 5-60 time is slower for the car, but the car loves to be reved........all those you think there is some cover up about HP make me laugh........the car does 238hp (Canada), a long ways above the prelude, so no comparison here.......and yes I have driven the 8, and will be smiling much more when it comes in Feb04.............

specialist - i think there are a lot of people here that willb every happy when the car arrives. most of the 'moaning' stems not from the car but from being kept in the dark. most parted with £1000 9 months ago, that is a looooooong time. and until recently there has been no information.

btw welcome.

ChrisW -

You could always take delivery , sell at a premium , buy a scooby/evo (or other performance only vehicle).
Over the next few months of mega-prelude-beating performance you could look enviously at the sublime RX8s cruising around and realize that actually , maybe the other qualities of the RX8 were enough....
You could then buy another one (supply should be OK by then) and be 100% happy with it knowing that outright number-based performance is not the whole story !

Problem solved ! ta-da !

Dont be offended - only teasing.
Yes, we have lost a bit of HP - it's still an amazing spec of car for the cash, and that rotary sweetness will be loved by many here - they just dont know it yet !

Just going by Auocar's performance figures. They got 0-60 of 6.8 seconds for a 184 hp Prelude V-TEC back in the early 90's and a top speed of about 140 mph. This is similar to what they have just recorded for the RX-8.

I'm not expecting EVO type performance and it is not the be all and end all for me. But I did expect it to be noticeably faster than my curent car (1995 Prelude VTEC).

Does that hatred extend to their measuring equipment? I'm quite prepared to dismiss most of the daft comments in that review but performance measurements shouldn't be affected by their feelings towards the car should they?

No of course not - I think I misrepresented what I meant...

What I mean to say is that in line with previous posts , performance is not everything , the cars package is awesome.
Autocars overall stance on the RX8 can discolour how we view news.

Timing equipment - yep , should work.
As to whether they had competent operators , the ambient temperature , humidity , headwind etc etc... were taken into account, I would suggest not.
Worry not - the car is quick.

Have you had a drive yet ?

No, I've not driven one yet. Most people who have say that it feels pretty fast, and if I think the same when I drive it then I will probably decide to buy it, whatever the performance figures say.

But I would like to believe that it actually has about 230 hp rather than 210 or 200. Just makes me feel I'm getting more for my money. And makes it easier to justify the fuel consumption.

As to difficulties of performance measurements I've just seen the following thread:

http://www.rx8forum.com/showthread.p...threadid=11240

I really don't know what to make of this. Weird.

The thing is that different people have very different aspirations. When I drove the car I though it was very fast indeed. However, the fastest car I have owned in a 206 GTI. Someone who owned a Evo or Scooby Do would maybe not think it was fast. I've been in both of these cars but never driven them and yeah they did feel a little faster. However, the RX8 is fast, feels fast and i'm happy with that (although don't tell Mazda).
