Thumbs up Mazda UK RX8 site - news updated with Prodrive info!

They have added news on the free Prodrive day for all MX8 owners here

A real bonus to get something like this IMO.

Is this a smokescreen to compensate for the "late" deliverys?

For one I am convinced, bring it on.......:D

That will be an excellent day out. Kudos to mazda for this.

I was looking at getting some tuition on how to drive the car to its best, and they go and give it to us for free. So that's 500 quids worth of driviing tuition plus a book.

Not bad for starters:D

Very good news.

I wonder if prodrive will now produce tuning parts for the RX-8 in the same way they do for the Impreza.

A prodrive pack on an RX-8 with an extra 40bhp.....now that sounds good :D

Anyone know more about this?

Is it just for 1 or can it be shared between me and my wife?

Do you use your own car or theirs?

Check out the link - it does say that you can take a friend or partner with you - not sure on the car but I assume it will be theirs. Otherwise we'd have to get special insurance for the day.

I'm hoping that they can line this up before delivery of the car - I bet they get fewer people cancelling after a day razzing the car!

The Prodrive facility is in Kenilworth, Warwickshire and has everything you could want to test the car out it seems. Go to this page and click on the Vehicle option on the right.

Good idea for us all to use it as a meet up Oilman

Isn't this likely to seriously punish your tyres?

Shouldn't do. Although it depends on how hard you push it. It's not a course on how to drive the car through the passenger side window...

Just re-read the article again, and it's not clear whether it is in your car or theirs.

Im assuming that it wont happen until after you have taken delivery of your car, so it may well be in your own car.

It does say they will come to you if you cant get to prodrive, so I would have thought they would use your car for this.

Anyone received any further details on this.....?

It will have to be after my car is run in then because track work at low revs seems a bit pointless. I'm not complaining though, this seems a good gift!

Great - but hope it is in rx8 as I've had 'ferrari' day at silverstone:D (present from wife!) and would like to try this in the RX8 not my current motor (fto tiptronic so feel is totally different):

depending on the booking system, it might be possible to turn the prodrive experience into a owners meeting.

I'm intrigued to see how this is going to turn out,

Last time I dis something like this was in a RWD sierra with slick tyres on a skid pan, where I had a whale of a time.

Thanks Mazda UK, just hoping this applies to all orders (well pre-orders at least) as I would be gutted to miss out.

This is definitely a smokescreen to appease us on the dates.

However, I'm not going to argue! I'd rather have the car earlier (like NOW as the invoice from T W Whites stages - Late June or Early July) do I have comeback on this? pah probably not, apart from cancel the order, not bloody likely.

I thought it was our own cars as it was after ours arrived.

Certainly would like to meet up, especially with other ex mx5 owners club members who have "grown up"
