Is Jezza Right Then?
If there is one thing I agree with Jezza on, it's Vauxhalls.
It's not the car but the image, blandness and brand that turns me off.
So, with much talk lately in the quality mags about the VX Lightning project and will they will they not build it I thought a quick poll was appropriate if a little "off topic".
So, you're in the market for a reasonably priced but quick sports 2 seater with character, would you buy it Vauxhall badge and all?
I SAY BUILD IT.............I WOULD BUY IT BADGE AND ALL!!
What do you think?
Some pics attached for those who only ready weekly's..........
Cheers

They couldn't build it like that anyway, Mazda could (quite rightly) bust a nut over the "rotor" styling both front and back which they will no doubt have some restrictions over as it is so integral to the essence of the new 8, so if Vauxhall were to ever build it thos e "rotor" symbols would have to be changed.
Anyway, not having kept up to date on anything Vauxhall for some time, what's the difference between this and the 220?

I just couldn't bring myself to buy a Vauxhall. I can't really pinpoint why - I'm not a badge snob as I considered the Skoda VRs (until I test drove it!) I've done some work with Vauxhall and they are not a company that impressed me much tbh.
Anyway here's a pic I took of it at MotorExpo;

Said no - but it is not a badge thing , I just dont like it much !
Too 'batmobile' I am afraid... I think it was the twin "headrest-boot-extension" things that put me off.
Just take me back to saturday tea-time as a kid....
da-na-na-na-na-na BAT-MAN !

yep - i would buy it - never had a problem with vauxhalls
why this car: lotus technology plus all the styling reasons morgan stated he wouldnt buy it - i loved those boot bulges on the renault 19 convertile.
(batman is also why i'd buy the bmw z3 coupe)

Having driven the VX220 Turbo at MotorDriveLive I'd say I probably would buy it. I don't know if i'm 100% sure on the styling of the Lightning, but then I expect that some things would change before a production model was launched that would tone it down a little.
Keep meaning to contact Vauxhall about a 48-hour test drive of the VX Turbo... might go do that now!

It looks ok.
AFIk it wont have any lotus involvment(big falling out there) so it may fall foul of GM committes.
If they make it as it is, and keep the weight down it should be good.
If they do what they did with the astra/concept then it'll end up playing 2nd fiddle to an MG.

Not sure about the looks of that car but would consider it.
I would buy a VX220 Turbo tomorrow if I could afford to buy a decent day to day car as well!
Wouldnt consider one of Vauxhalls cooking hatches at all though even for a runabout. Mondeo/Focus streets ahead of Vectra/Astra.
