I have finally got delivery of my new RX-8 yesterday. "Thrilled" should be the word to describe my emotions. It would be a good idea to exchange experiences with other RX-8 owners in Greece. One issue is the fuel. I do not know to what extent the widely advertised "super, extra super" unleaded fuels is a marketing trick to charge an additional premium. The fuel adulteration is much more profiatble to the "expensive" fuels rather than the "cheap" normal 95-octane fuels. On the other hand, the promised maintenance benefits (clean engine etc) - provided you are given the extra power unleaded fuel and not any diesel+something else mixture -are vague, difficult to recognize from the normal wear, and take a long time to come to a conclusion. In the mean time the owner will have paid a fortune to an "advanced" fuel and he will not have seen the results. It looks a little bit like a religion to me. Hence, does anyone have any experience regarding the "normal" or the "advanced" fuels, or am I very cynic ?

Hi all in Greece. I live in Cananda and I will be in Athens late September attending a conference. I would be great to see a few RX8's in Greece while i'm there and if any of you speak english, that would be even better. Do you guys meet occasionally? If so, any meets scheduled for Sep 20-25?

we do meet once every week, usually wednesday or tuesday!
we also have an international section at our own website www.rx8club.gr you can freely ask there anything you'd like, for example where and when we meet and so on. You won't get many replies here, cuz just a few of us pop in here once in a while...
but I guess you have figured that out yourself since your post is a week old

p.s. oh and... all of us speak english

 

Rotormaniac, thanks for the response. I guy at one of our meets last night noticed I was on the greek thread and told me not to expect a response as you guys have you're own site now. So I'll check it out for sure. I'll see if I can make one of your meets.

Helas is a great guy with a Greek background. I just call him "Re". I spoke to him about my trip to Greece and he gave me some uselful information. He represents the Greek community very well. WE want to change his name for "Re" to "Mr Olympia ". J/K

Well, I'm glad to announce my Greek background and heritgae, family and awesome food. I was in Greece for 2 weeks this summer, however I live in NC...So I am a semi Greek owner i guess.

 

O yea, i went to visit my Family's village, Metsoville. It was great and up in the mountains, about a 7 hr drive from Athens. Anyway, i would love to get back to Greece soon and drive from Athens to the village because some of those roads were absolutely awesome, especially with that beautiful mountain background.

 

actually its called Metsovo, but you americans use the ending '-ville' for all small villages right ?
those roads you talk about are great when you are on your own, but traffic usually spoils the fun...

Yes i know it's Metsovo, but in the name of phonetics...Mestoville . And yes, ville for small villages. I definitely wanna get back as soon as possible though. Turns out the house that my grandfather once owned is no longer his, but i would love to convice my father to buy a place there.
