EP Number - is it the order of delivery?
I say NO to this. You can tell by my sig when I
1) expressed an Interest to T W Whites in Weybridge as in Intent to Buy in Dec 02
2) Paid over my £1000 in Feb 03
3) Then went back to sign the Mazda T&Cs from those who ordered on the website.
I have my book (was this for the first 1000 definitely?), have my registration pack with the EP number (EP729)
What do you all think? Is it the delivery order?
I only wondered abut this when I met Contigo today (hi there!) at the MotorExpo....

EP numbers seem to be allocated sequentially as people place their orders, and this is also the number used to login to the website.
Here is our 'EP' thread of a few months ago https://www.rx8club.com/europe-forum-36/ep-register-add-yours-2962/
Therefore I would say this is the order no. As to the order of delivery we will have to wait and see as it will also depend upon what you have ordered.
e.g. Most early UK cars will be high power , leather and only the first 4 colours available. Mazda are saying current orders will mostly be delivered September for these. Low power will be October, and Blue,Yellow,Green in November

Order Sequence
It seems this this is the key number (EP), but it doesn't tally with any of the dates.
it appears that this is in a sequence based on the applications made through the website ordering system, that had to be used by all dealers and the general public.
So basicly, if you placed your order in January but your dealer didn't enter the order onto the website until the third day the site had been active (like mine did ) you ended up with a high number (300 by the morning of the third day of the site going live). My dealer only did this because I went in and demanded that my order was placed, or they mignt not have done it for a couple of days more.
However there is one final twist, if you change the specification of your order, then no matter what you EP number is, you get allo cated a new position at the back of the queue.
Edit: Mark you beat me to it , I waffled too much.:D

Thanks Mark
T W Whites & Sons had better watch out tomorrow! I had never even thought about it until I met Contigo today.
And I'll let you know about me buying M2 RXB from that site! Lol! Still, bought on Credit card, so either we both get it (hmm, not!), or I just refuse to pay the CC bill next month!

Right
I have spoken to Sarianda (sp?) at T W Whites about 5 minutes ago.
He tells me that the dealers will be allocated the cars in batches and that there will be x of each type for each dealer for the release date (september latest cited).
The EP number bears no relevance to the order thats they will be allocated EXCEPT on a dealer basis ie if EP700,729,730,735,800,978 is for T W Whites then I am second in the queue for that dealership and will get it at the same time (within a couple of days) as the person second in the queue for a different dealership.
What say everyone to that?
Si

I placed my order on 5th Feb and I think I signed the T&C's 3 days later, a week at the most later.
Sarinda took my order (and my dep on the 5th) and I ordered the Sunlight Silver with cloth, nothing else....
Maybe the EP number thing is related to Colour and Spec...just a wild guess, but good to see that the numbers are ralated to Dealers.
Thanks Renegade_si!

Sarinda (spelt right this time) seemed quite keen to get me off the phone though. He did seem more concerned about the demonstrator/showroom car situation not being available until September.
Very polite and curteous, but I was starting to get a little erm upset with the situation which didn't help - particularly as I didn't even think about this until it was brought up by Contingo yesterday at the motorexpo.
I said "as long as they are processed in sequence of ordering through the dealers and not the straight EP number then I am happy and dont care when it comes".
What he also said is that the first 1000 will all be delivered within 3 weeks of each other anyway, so is there THAT much stress about it?
Swee Sealey took my order - I dont even know if she is still there as she hasn't been the contact for a while....
Regarding the T&Cs Ed, I didnt think they came out until the pre order website came online - the Mazda ones?!

Do all T W Whites EP numbers start with a 7?

I was told by Mazda that all of the high power orders up to now should be delivered during september so worst case is that there will be a few weeks between them all regardless of EP.
Thats fine as long as I get mine first! :D :D

at least thats consistent with what TW Whites said today (see above)!
Thats the problem - we are just looking for a consistent view. And a definite date.
I almost wish I didnt go yesterday to the motorexpo, as I was quietly sitting here, waiting patiently (and still being told July) until then!

Orders
Ok then, taking into account all the information gained so far there seem to be three things that will decide when you will recieve your car.
1. The position you hold in the queue at your Dealer.
2. The number of cars delivered to the Dealer (can anybody find out how this allocation process will work).
3. The specification of cars available to allocate (first UK production batch was earlier said to be all High power, be mainly leather, and also contain a limited number of sunroof models).
So we still need more information about points 2 and 3 before we can be more sure of when we will recieve our cars.

I am assuming that the order number I have received from Mazda, as part of my confirmation pack is my EP number.
The number on my pack (and also the web-site) is RX8-200255, which I assume equates to EP255.
Does anyone know if this is the case?
Chris

EP or not EP
Unfortunately not everyone has an EP number.
It seems it's down to the way the order was placed.
(Lensman, did you ever recieve an EP number?)
Some people who ordered via the web seem to get a number similar to yours, where as those who order through a dealer seem to get an EP number.
For example my welcome pack reciept folder says:
User ID: EP312
Password : ?????????
Order Number: RX8-EP312
etc....

My order was placed at the end of March, with the dealer, i have no EP, but order reference:
RX8-202890
this code was from both the dealer, and Mazda on my confirmation of order details.
I have been told all along to expect in October.
i'm not getting all worked up over it, it will come when it comes.
Though i would like to know if i'm an official pre-order, and will receive the pro-drive deal. The site still says 'pre-order' will this be limited by order numbers do peope think? (Sorry a little off topic!)
