Letter arrived yesterday (Sat 30th) and it of course promted me to ring the only telephone number we know. The fairly long suffering girl at the other end told me that they had not known the letter was going out until Fri 29th and had not been given any further details. No ideas about why there are further delays, no idea why website still promisses delivery in July.

Anyway - seems we are not the only ones in the dark, and for me, the letter was a very poor effort to explain what is going on.

PS - although interests rates aint great - how much money have they made from sitting on all those deposits?

A point to note is that mine is also November WITH a sat nav setup. So the theory that sat nav cars are behind others appears to be sunk (unlike the cars I hope!)

just got back from my dealership,

they advise theat ship is not underway and production is not yet complete.

Believes that 1st shipment will be mostly black and silver, he claims that delivery of red has been delayed for some unknown reason.

so still suggesting Nov (late?) delivery for my black hi power pre-order.
(although thinks that on the lastest updates mazda are trying to be conservative (???))

on the plus side he belives that they will have a high power model availaible for me to test drive in about 2 weeks, but he'll be in touch to comfirm.

claims all the dealers there got to drive it at the wales launch and were all highly impressed.

Well done for getting hold of some news, even though its not good news and we hope it is rumour on the part of your dealer.
I 've got a vague recollection of someone mentioning, some time ago that there were problems with the supplier of red paint going bust and them struggling to get supply from elsewhere. Surprisingly I hadnt heard anything since so I put it down to more rumour and hearsay. What you are saying actually backs it up.
Bad news for Reds (Oilman?) but I am meeting my dealer and a red 192 this weekend so I'll see what I can find out then, if anything.
And good luck to the Scots in the qualifier today, KEF.

good luck with your dealer, hope that the red rumor turns out to be nothing more than that.

sorry I didn't get more information, i'm particularly crap at dealing with salesman,

He did come across as fairly well informed, they claim that they are one of the largest dealers in the UK shifting 1000 mazda units a year, in which case I would think their manufacturer contacts should be fairly good.

scotland made it 3-1,
england made it 2-1 (and treated me to one of the funniest last 5 minutes of any recent game)
so come on the welsh, lets make it a UK hat trick (sorry ireland, better luck next game)

This had better not be true. On top of everything else, that would just be too much.

There has been no problems with the Red cars in the US or Asian markets, so I dont see why it would be the case. That said, if its not true, then it is particularly poor for dealers to spread rumours like that.

There's been a lot of talk of "orange peel" paintwork on the red cars ... maybe that's why there's a problem

This makes me quite angry.

In Mazda's email to Anils they state that 'rumours are being fuelled by the forum' and that 'they have no idea where these rumours are coming from'.

Well Mazda UK these rumors are started by information provided by the Order help line, and your dealers! Is it any wonder that we get all wound up when you tell us the ship has left, then a few days later one of your representatives tells us the boat hasn't left and don't expect to see your cars till the very end of November!!!!

Almost all of the negative rumors on this forum have originated from information supplied by a Mazda representative to a customer.

If anyone has Deby G's email could someone please post an email to her detailing this most recent communication **** up! Could they also ask them to better control their dealers and help line staff speculation. Or if they are telling dealers one thing and keeping us in the dark, to start coming clean with us!

Yours, Very Annoyed.

Carl.

I have to admit .. having read the news about the ship not having left, production still underway and a problem with the red cars ... I got very close to cancelling.

With so much dis-information on here and from Mazda it's hard to know what to think!!

Please, please Mazda ... get your act together. I've had two great cars from you in the past, but it's getting awfully tempting to just pop into a showroom and buy a TT, a VX220, perhaps even a boxster.

seeing the reaction I've generated here I' deeply embarrassed that I didn't press the issue further with my dealer.

FOR THE RECORD I WOULD NOTE THAT THE GUY I SPOKE TO WAS NOT THE DEALERSHIP RX-8 SPECIALIST.

he did appear to be fairly knowledgable, perhaps if I'd mentioned that i would be immediately posting his every word he might have been more reticent to comment.

I would hate to be responsible for generating duff info, so I would say to everyone calm down and wait to see what Jon H finds out. (to be honest I now regret posting the dealers comments)

Sorry Kef, not getting at your dealer that much, and not getting at you. Just annoyed that mazda cant keep all parties up to date with the same info!

It's the constant 'left hand don't know what right hand is doing' stuff.

I have a lot of sympathy for the dealers as on the whole we seem to have more information than they do. I know mine seems to do his best but he appears to have his hands tied.

I would just like to ensure all representatives have the same level of up to date info.

Done. Email sent this morning.

KEF - Dont hold you responsible m8, you only posted what you were told. It annoys me greatly too when dealers spout off information to customers like this.

I dont beleive it to be true, but Ive asked the question anyway to be clear one way or the other.

OK, Just come back from Coventry Mazda where I was kicking the tyres of a Tit Grey 192 (more later).

Mentioned the rumours to my dealer, he said he was confident that the November deliveries would be achieved, even with the red cars. There was a Red buyer there and she wasnt aware of any new delays.
So either he hadnt been told anything or he wasnt letting on.

I cannot criticise you for your posting KEF, after all this is a forum for sharing info, all info be it good news, bad news, rumour, lies or sexed up. If no-one shared what they had been told then we would have nothing to talk about and we would be making stuff up instead.

By the way the car looked fantastic, it was a static demo so no test drive (although I am sure if it would have swung a deal then arrangements might have been made...). They did start it up but didnt give it any welly (it was inside the showroom) and sounded, well, different. Was impressed by the build quality and the interior, and the detailing inside and out. Looks like the ashtray is a weak link though as it had been broken by some journalist.
Looks cool in Tit Grey but still think black will be better, if harder to keep clean!

okay fingers crossed, I'd rather be wrong that the bearer of bad news.

I think that in view of the ruckus i'm gonna treat all furture info with a pinch of salt.

perhaps we'd all be better off in the dark, imagine the surprise when your dealer calls to tell you not only have they reached the country in november, but that you car is actually at the garage waiting to be collected.

Guys, here is the emailed response from Mazda, no problems at all and nothing to worry about (Thanks Deby ).....

"I'm pleased to tell you the information stated below is not true.

We have vehicles on the water and are making their way to UK soil as I type.

There is no issue with red paint.

The only thing I can suggest is that if any of the forum members receive information and wish to have it confirmed or denied, come to myself, Michael Davey or Chris Twine. This is the only way that we can control the information you receive.

We do endeavour to keep our dealers and call centre briefed, however, cannot be party to all conversations had about the RX-8, and cannot control the way they are relayed or indeed the way they are interpreted."

Cheers, Mark.

Pass on our thanks to Deby for clearing up this latest rumor so quickly. (Rereading your post I see you already have, well thanks to you Deby from me as well.)

I suggest we start a new thread called 'Rumor Control' where people can post things they would like clarified by Mazda UK.
Those who have contacts with Mazda could then use them to get answers to these questions, or Mazda UK could keep tabs on this thread and answer themselves via one of the same contacts.

Thoughts?

Mark / Titanium Grey,

Excellent news. I think the rumor control thread is a good one. Here's a question for that thread: "Whose cars are on the boat?".
