Delays

Mazda is citing unexpected demand in Japan as the reason our cars are six months late. They do this as though they had no control over the situation.

They do. They made the business decison to fulfill the demand (not pre-orders, it was unexpected) over our pre-orders.

I've worked in businesses where we've had this situation. At one we did the ethical thing and fulfilled the pre-orders first, at the other we air-frieghted the goods (taking a hit on margins) to make sure we had enough product.

If Mazda has this attitude before they've had our money what will it be like afterwards.

I want an RX-8, but I don't think I want to deal with Mazda.

I expect I'll cancel, and explained this to my seven year old. He's more upset at the thought than I am.

It isnt just Japans higher pre-orders. It was a supprise engine remap for europe too ( like Euro StageV emmisions came as some sort of shock).

In all honesty mazda have catered for their core markets. Europe/Uk just isnt that big of a market compared to US and their home market.

Isnt good but mazda have to make money at the moment...

Simonr, when did you order ?

If you're in the pre-order group your car will be available in the next 4-5 weeks.

Everyone who preordered was informed of the delay several months ago (if you got the letters). Mazda UK can do nothing about the delays. They could have communicated things better, but that's about it.

Why bail out now?

As with several others here, I considered cancelling over the summer, because I could get a different car earlier. But that time has gone, and delivery is so close.

It seems a strange choice.

The "why bail out now" is because I've no faith in Mazda/the dealer.

Things are not going to get better once I've handed over the money.

I ordered in January - after my third attempt to place an order. I tried last summer and was told that they would call me when they were prepared to take orders.

I was then told that they would take orders at the motor show in Birmingham so I went there to place an order and was told to go back to my dealer. This was the nearest I've had to a good experience with Mazda, the area manager was very helpful and she chased the dealer for me. Unfortunately she is now on materity leave.

The dealer didn't call, but I chased them and found that they had already taken other deposits.

They are supposed to be calling me today. I'll be surprised if they do. Unless they read this forum.

'sfunny, but I just get the impression that they don't want my money.

And I'm taking the hint and I don't want to be their customer.
