Dealer Update 27th June

My dealer called with some more information which I am sure he does not mind sharing. Obviously I cannot guarantee this but;

- car will be launched in the Midland to which pre-orders will be invited. Date unclear

- we will be able to drive their demo cars on the day on the test track

- This will give all pre-orders good oppertunity to drive the car before our own orders arrive (date unknown)

Mazda have been advised that delay is due to demand in the Far East and there is nothing anybody can do. No suggestion of any form of cash-back etc.

Besides that my dealer has;

- 12 orders on his book
- is producing a RX8 newsletter comiled from info from customers, rotary clubs, Mazda UK and web designed to keep his own orders updated.

Launch with a test drive on track sounds good to me.

As to huge demand in the far-east + nothing they can do.

They can supply customers on a first come first serve basis and give us our cars before pandering to their domesic market.

The logical conclusion is that this launch is going to be held at the Ptodrive facility near Tamworth. I'd be surprised if they are going to invite 1000 or so pre-orderers to a launch event like this though - it'd be chaos and unlikely that many would get a drive at all.

p.s. still haven't the 'the letter'!

Im with Rob on this one.

Service the orders you have on the books before trying to pamper to the needs of those "sitting on the fence" with the get me one tomorrow and ill sign up.

Domestic market or not this is a global economy and Mazda claim to be a world player in the manufacturing of cars, somehow i have to really question there ethics.

What would be the case of asking for our 1000 quid back but still keep our order number, i for one could do with the cash sitting in my bank account and not in theres.

Just called TW Whites - Rob not there. Spoke to Sales Manager. Didnt like his attitude at all. Cancel if you want - plenty of people to take your place. Dont know any more than you do. Can pass on your complaint to Mazda if you want, but wont make any difference. Mostly true, but there are ways of saying things, and he did nothing to make me feel better.

It was Sarinda. He called the other day with "great news" that I could go and see the car.. I said I'd already seen it at Motordrive, and unless it was going to be driveable - no point.

Didnt tell him where to go, as I may need them to take my car in part ex!! However, his manner is crap - but then I am yet to meet many decent car sales men in the (frequent helping friends buy cars) times I find myself dealing with them...

The only reason most new and used car salesmen get away with being so crap is that the vast majority of people out there are terrified of buying a car and dont know how to go about it. If people were better educated and less afraid more crap dealerships would go down. I may set myself up as a consultant!!!
