dealer says 2 ships are coming now

Just spoke to Mazda dealer who informs me that there are 2 ships that have left port laiden with RX-8's on their way to the UK. He says that mazda will shortly be writing to customers who have their cars on the these ships to advise of delivery dates. Not put my order in yet but am to do so shortly. They tell me that if i order now - my car will arrive before Christmas. He also tells me that the dealership ( Mazda - Leeds) is getting a demonstrator between 8th - 15th September and has invited me for a test drive. Think I will do this and then place my order if everything is OK. Trying to get a discount but struggling. Anybody been successful in getting one or have you all paid full price?????

As far as I know we all have paid full list price. The only haggling I think we will get to do is over the price of overpriced accessories (or at least have a try).

The car the dealer is getting is almost certainly one of the 10 press cars.

As for the boat having left - this disagrees with what Mazda UK told me this morning.. I ordered in April. And was told I would be being told November in my letter. Late October was theearliest anyone would get a car.

Now what will REALLY **** me off, is if they send over the pre-order cars, AND a whole load of other cars, meaning that I could just walk into a showroom and buy a car (all-be-it no choice on spec) at about the same time. Then I would be asking SERIOUS questions as to why I paid Mazda £1000 5 months ago.

ARE YOU LISTENING MAZDA YOU FEKWITS?

Let's all admit it to ourselves right now ....

There will be cars available in the showrooms at the same time as our cars are waiting to be delivered (like in the US). If we get ourselves too worked up over that when we know the dealers are in business for themselves, then we are really being naive.

I guess we should really get wound up if our cars take more than a few days beyond that to be with us ... unless you chose blue or yellow of course, in which case expect the delay to be really painful (sorry )

I suppose the key question to all of this is, did we really need to pay over our deposits all those months ago? (January for me).

I believed what I read at the time........ I had no reason to suspect differently............ Wanted to be first in the queue..........
Wanted something that was great to look at and with rareity value.

I just prey the rest of this experience is FIRST CLASS but, something tells me that it may not be. IT SHOULD BE, we've all been very patient and deserve it.

The past 8 months have not been so good for us poor loyal Customers. It will all be forgotten if our cars arrive soon and live up to expectations but, MAZDA beware, I for one will not be so hasty to part with my money so early in future unless I'm buying a car with a guaranteed delivery date. There are many lessons to be learned..........

Just my balanced opinion.

Cheers

My message for Mazda is:

If you say you are going to do something then do it. If you can't, for whatever reason, then at least communicate with your loyal (so far) customers why and what you are doing about it.

So: We have three days before you are supposed to send us all brochures and give us details on when we can expect our cars ...

SO?

Strange comment about being able to buy now for Xmas. When i popped into Milford on Saturday and asked about orders (I didn't mention I was a pre-orderer) they said that ordering now may just see the car arrive for March. Not sure if thats a way of making sure no one gets annoyed at any delays and ends up with their car sooner than expected, or if that's actually what the time-scale is now for any new orders?

Surely there are 2 boats coming over because UK pluse European preorderers plus dealers adds up to 2 boats.

With 500-750 cars for us, 250-500 for the dealers (depends if they get one or 2 cars each) That covers the production run of RHD cars that we know about, doesn't it.

Stick them all on one boat.

But, as has been pointed out, there is also the rest of europe to consider. The other boat surely has all the LHD cars on it and is going to mainland europe to offload.

So what's the problem. ?
We knew they were making European cars this past month, and we knew they were going to stick them on a boat. I don't much care if that's 2 boats or 10.

Mazda can't win on this !!!!

One group is saying that we won't all get our cars this year because there aren't enough cars on the boats, and then another group think that there will be an oversupply to the dealers allowing walk-ins to drive away same day.

Am I the only one still taking the happy pills ? (supplied by Mazda pharmaceuticals of course)

All very interesting to someone who hasn't ordered yet but is about to....

Not suprised no-one has had a discount but are they offering a sensible price on a part-ex?

The dealers think they have struck gold. Orders are pilling up even without test drives and with limited annual supply. They will ask full retail price on the 8 plus full price on extras and only offer you what they will get on the part exchange (ie they will give me what Audi will buy the TTC for).

There will be no deals! When I threatened to cancel they were not concerned. They feel this car will be a major success with demand far outstripping supply. Also, long delivery times once the car has hit the road.

You will be far better (financially) getting rid of your car privately. The residuals dealers will offer are rock bottom at the moment. The only thing you will save by part ex-ing your car will be the hassle and timing of selling it.
