I recently placed an order for an RX8 and paid my deposit by cheque. After a week or so, the dealer contacted me to say that Mazda would only accept debit/credit card deposits as these can go straight onto their system. Consequently, I'm waiting for the return of my cheque before givng them my card. Anyone else had this problem 'cos it seems alittle strange to me.

 

I gave my salesman a check for a pre-order deposit which he never even bothered to cash. So this issue seems to be different for each dealership and/or individual.
