Aftermarket Modifications

Trawling through the main forum there are loads of posts from people planning to modify their 8 as soon as they get it, anything including:
Sticking on a turbo
Ripping out the stereo
Removing the aircon
Changing the seats
Fitting a spoiler
Tinting the windows
etc

This all seems a bit premature considering nobody has driven the car yet, or heard the steroe, or sat in the seats......

Personally I plan to keep mine just as it comes. Is anybody here planning major modifications already?

I wont be doing anything to invalidate the warranty.

Whats the point of buying a new car with a 3 year warranty then losing it with aftermarket performance mods and having to pay potentially large repair bills. Each to their own, but if you want to mod and tune I think you are better to do this with a car out of warranty.

The only thing I have planned is some tints, and maybe the odd subtle body bit like the aluminium fuel cap.

If the zaust has no sound I would like to change it but only if there is an official Mazdaspeed? part to do it.

I think a lot of the talk is just talk, if it weren't for these conversations, this forum would be pretty dead until delivery time. Take it all with a grain of salt, I know most of use are.

Cool Open up intakes...

The only change to the factory bits I am looking at is to 'open up the airbox'. The factory goes to great lengths to muffle the intake sound (just like they do the exhaust). Intake sounds are carefully tuned out in the maze of plastic runners.
The timbre of the note is affected by many things, but is 'tuned' by the intake runners acting as velocity stacks. The sound must be impressive on the '8', with its three different sized tuned runners, on acceleration you should be able to hear when each one opens. (The pre-production testers have had some problems with the third, high power' runner control not opening, this would have been immediately apparent if you could hear each one step in)

My major mod for the year was cancelling my red Volvo XC90 and switching the down payment to a red 6 speed RX8!!

Since my wife hates manual shifting, I guess her major mod will have something to do with me.

What Ho!!
