By far the fuel consumption. scary. very scary.

Would you reccommend the 8?
Depends who to. If they want sporty with 4 daily usable seats and restricted but Ok luggage, then yes.

No

Oh the noise, the fast response, the limitless revs. Wonderfull engine, even though its not either the most powerfull, or the most frugal.

Had it 2.5 weeks and 800 miles:
Q1 somewhere between 'better than expected' and 'awesome'
Q2 better package than my previous A4 2.8 Quattro because its got similar performance, better road feel and handling, better looks and very nearly as good equipment and accommodation (and aircon is better)
Q3 My A4 cost someone about £35k new but was a good buy for me 2nd hand but even then lost half its value. The RX8 has similar equipment levels at 2/3 the price new - 5 years later.
Q4 Best feature has to be driving experience but it has so much going for it.
Q5 Nothing on your list could possibly be criticised. Its worst feature is its fuel consumption, a lot worse than my Audi and even worse than my 1981 Lotus Esprit.
Q6 Definitely recommend it, but only to an enthusiast
Q7 Dont know about hooked but certainly enjoying the novelty. If they could do a car like this without a rotary (doubtful) I would still love it, and I have the occasional nagging doubt about the benefits of wankeling. For the time being I am hooked and have to be dragged out of the car, kicking and screaming at the end of every drive.
