Very interested in the RX8, seems like a great car.. maybe a few issues but generally great.

One thing bugs me is I suspect that UK customers may be the only ones offered a 192 or 238 BHP option.

Is this Mazda UK driving the price up by £2k !!

A quick look at Mazda Autralia web site, offers only the higher power car and comments in the US section of this site only seem to relate to the high power.

Can anyone clear up or confirm this issue as I don't fancy paying a lot more for the same engine with the rev limit raised - which is my suspicion ?

i suggest a good look around the site - maybe the technical section will help. basically the 2K buys you a different engine (injection plumbing, revs etc), a 6 speed rather than 5 speed box, xenon lights and some extra cosmetics like the aluminium pedal set.

mazda expect 90% of orders to be the high power and that's about what it is on this forum. the 192 rx8 is a cheap car but most people think the extra 2K is well worth it.

in the states the lower power car is only available with an automatic transmision. most of us just refer to it as the "auto" rather than "low power".

The "High Power" engine has extra intake ports which open at higher revs... 6 in total, compared to 4 for the lower power version.

In the Netherlands we can get 3 versions of the RX8.
Staring with the LP with 192 BHP which will cost 40.995 euro's.
Then followed by again a LP version, but with Bose stereo, 6 cd-changer, 9 speakers and full DVD navigation, 45.495 euro's.
The most expensive RX8 is the HP version, with 238 BHP and extra: xenon, 6-speed, aluminium pedals, 17 inch brake discs, 49.995 euro's.
We can't get an 'auto' version here.
All cars are equipt with leather in eather one or two colours.

So far Mazda has sold a handfull of RX8ths, one LP with the options to myself and a couple of other ones for Mazda management people. If, and above all, when we will get the car is still very insecure. Reading all the mail on this forum I think we will drive in the RX8 around christmas.

here in Spain we only have 1 version.
High Power (231CV) with everything, xenon, DVD Nav, Bose, leather, 18"wheels, 6 speed, aluminium pedals,... 37.420 euros

the only extra is the "metallic" paint 390 euros.

I think I'll be driving it in November.... :D
