They wanted us to stay in this canvas tent thing... just not really much of my style... plus its a dirt road to get there with a brand new kit? I don't think so...

Depends on where you want to stay. Knoxville is about thirty minutes away. Alcoa is about twenty. Now at the dragon there is Natahalla resort which has discounts and is close( like ten minutes) Plus there is townsend and Gatlinburg all about thirty to forty-five minutes away.

 

why are these kinds of things always so far away.

 

Well where the dragon is, not much around it. You are running through the national parks. So thank god not much has been developed around it. One of the last few places that sprawl hasn't ruined.

 

It appears Natahalla is booked solid.

So Kimmi is trying to get someplace else close, that is not a tent I guess.... HAHA

 

Townsend would be the next closest to the dragon. With Alcoa and Maryville the other towns close by on the Tennessee side. Alcoa has the airport so a few hotels are on 129.

Yea just let me know were you guys want to stay and I will let you know how far it is etc. Also let me know what day you are headed over there so I can plan on it. I know the area well since I grew up so close to the dragon.

 

I will finalize the caravan times and meeting location once I know when the FAR NORTH guys are going to be coming into VA.
