ON Trade EBAY Fob's that don't work? Visteon 41848 / KPU 41805

Hi,

I bought a FOB off of ebay that the seller said was "Verified Tested.". Unfortunately it didn't work with my car even after I changed the FOB's battery. I know I am using the correct model#/kpu# so that is not the issue.

I'm wondering if anyone on this board has had a similar experience (has a FOB they bought that didn't work for them) and wants to try swapping their non working Visteon 41848 / KPU 41805 for my non working Visteon 41848 / KPU 41805.

I'm trying to figure out if I should throw this thing out or what to do with it.

Did you try to program the EBay remote?

Yes, I did. Multiple times. I had success with the first FOB I purchased but I didn't have success with the second one. I actually put a lot of research into this over a year ago. I replied to one of the posts on programming the keyless remote with some more detailed instructions.

Maybe it's junk and I should just throw it out. I rolled the ebay dice and lost.

You didn't get gyped; even if it is a ginuine MAZDA OEM FOB, that programming instruction will not work for that specific FOB.I've only known of one person who have successfully done so with that procedure, everyone else who have gone through the same predicament and went ahead to replace the keychain FOB with a 2005+ switchblade FOB.

If you want to keep the same FOB, you have to take that to the dealer and will have to pay for them to program it for you. Search the forum for using the keywords: 2005 switchblade, programming FOB
