I dont think it is very easy to steal rx8. Also, if keeping the car stock, I doubt if there are any stock parts that can be ripped off and sold off to other cars.

On another note, my car just got dinged by some young punks! I had parked 1.5 feet into the parking spot.. close to my buddy's car.. so u cannot hit my car unless u park into my lane..a nd well.. thse punk kids did that and dinged my car! I saw them parked next to my car.. but i did not see the ding.. so when i asked them to leave so that i could enter my car.. i saw the ding and the fuming meter went OFF the radar!
A dent in the door.. (small but still noticible) and paint chipp off.. about a cm in diameter.

On one hand, it is reassuing to know that the car cannot be stolen that easy.
On another note, it is a b!tch to know that vandalism canot be stopped that easily. Some ppl have no respect for cars or anything in general!

You can steal a RX-8 easily, it's just that the market for swapping the 13B into a Civic hasn't really materialize yet, so there is no incentive to do it.

The only thing worth stealing on the RX-8 are the 18" rims for the Mazda3/6. Right now all Mazda3s are on their first owner and they're generally law-abiding people. But as the car ages and filter down to the ghetto, I think our 18" rims will be very vulnerable. By then I will have 5 different sets of wheel locks. So if they want my rims, they will have to cut every single f-cking bolt to get the wheels off.

Oh yeah did I mention I hate ricers? I think I did in every single post I made.

Word of warning in this regards (theft or breaking into)
A month ago, someone smashed in the side of my door to get my drivers side door handle at a different angle so the lock was able to be pried. left a huge couple of dents in the door, and they made off with a bunch of burnt cds, 8 year old Oakleys, and got through the compartment between the rear seats and stole my pool cue from the trunk. And yes, all areas were locked and the trunk opening disabled.
The guy did it in behind my work, and no one noticed, they were quick, so, do be wary of people casing your car, and keep nothing accessible, nothing in my car was visible, but they broke in figuring I must have something inside.

Unfortunately I think just seeing a RX-8 is enough cause for petty car thieves to make a go at it. That's why I leave my glovebox and storage compartments open when I park the car. Still I don't feel very secure.

Guess what happened now!!! I parked at Wal Mart in the States (Buffalo) and there was this cart with garbage in it. So I put a kleenex in the pile and went to get cough medicine.

Wouldn't you know it!! Some ******* goes and rolls the same cart into my 8! And there are 2 little dents on my passenger side door.

What sucks is that I usually take my van. First time bringing my car over the border and this **** happenes. I HATE PLAYER HATERS!! F*@K!!!

Can this be taken out easily? What would the cost be? They can't be noticed unless you look on an angle but I want them out~!!

Any paint gone? Are the dents smooth or creased?

No paint gone. Looks like 2 little dents 2" apart... Right where the door opens. Don't have my camera here but will post a pic...

I'm just happy they didn't smash or do anything else to my car. What sucks is that I parked away from everyone else. Like 4 parking spots away!!

If the dents are not creased then it should be pretty easy and cheap to fix. If you know a good body shop, it should be around $100 is all.

BTW this wasn't an accident. Someone took the cart an literally pushed it into my car for no F*&KING reason...Maybe because I parked like 4 or so parking spots away from everyone. I should have just parked beside everyone else!!

Oh well, could have been a lot worse I guess...

Got off easy

You got off easy Leesha. I parked my car by the employee parking area to find a bicycle by my car after work last Wednesday. These douchebags punks threw there bike into my car and left it there. My top left fender is chipped and scratched. My left bumper is all scratched. Its gonna set me back 450 to repair and repaint my fender and bumper. ********. So pissed. and it happened in the employee parking section, where customers shouldn't be. Obviously done on purpose.

Haven't noticed anyone lately. Jerks will be Jerks, that's forsure!!

Never saw those guys again. I guess once they saw I was a female driving they figured I didn't have any kind of expensive system to steal.

Heh. I guess sometimes its good to be a girl driving a hot car (not that there's anything wrong with it of course).

Well if they were still casing the car I was going to suggest pulling an ignition fuse or fuel pump relay. Granted it'd be annoying to have to remove and install them, no car thief would think of such simple deterrence methods.

But I digress... Good luck with the repairs!

Leesha,

Sucks to hear. But this sort of thing is bound to happen if you take the car to a parking lot. People don't care what kind of car you have anymore. They think it's just another piece of metal that's in their way. Even though you parked far from anyone else. People are stupid!
As for the dents, if you can wait a bit I know SKPerformance might throw another Dent Removal session so you can pull all the dents out for $100. If these are the only 2 dents you have, you might as well wait. Because God knows the car will probably be dented again! lol
I'll keep an eye out on the next meet they're having.

Prospect,
You have the worst luck. Just when you thought everything was going your way.
Cars are not safe even if it is in a designated area. They know nobody is going to see them, so they go about doing what they want. It's not like you can watch your car 24/7.
Then you wonder why I rarely drive mine! lol
