Is that in Canadian dollars? That would be under 28k US$ which sounds better...

It is "CASH ONLY" pricing. Markham Mazda has a 2006 SE MT for sale $32,900 if you pay cash, but if you finance it is regular priced $43,000

I wonder if they would still sell it at that price if it's still financed? What's the difference to them anyway? They still get the money.

Geez. Out here in Alberta they are going for a hell of a lot more than that. I looked at new and there is no way you'd get anything under $40k.

I just ended up buying an 04 with 13k km's for $29k.

well that's alberta where everybody rides horses until the last 2 years...
In Vancouver, I've seen 05s going for high 20s - 30k. So 34k for an 06 is not unreasonable seeing that Mazda overproduced them.

I'm in the US. Also, like I said, that was my price BEFORE tax, lic., trade-in, financing, etc. That was the price on the car because of about $10k in rebates. Anyone could've gotten this.

edit: Anyone in the US, then.

The price for an 8 in the US, even after converted in Canadian dollars, is still well below what the MSRP is in Canada. So an 8 for about 33K is a really good deal here up North.

Then why not fly down here, buy an 8 and drive it home? Some people do that backwards (go to Canada) for motorcycles due to emissions restricitons.

For some it's just too much hassle. Getting the paperwork done, installing DRL's, dealing with customs, etc... You must also be able to pay for it in cash since I don't think you can finance if you live in Canada and buy from the US. And you still have to pay the duties when you send it across the border. There were posts before of a guy offering to do all this for a fee. But there's always that fear of being scammed and again it's probably just too much hassle if you do it yourself.

IIRC, Mazda dealerships around the border are not allowed to sell new Mazda vehicles to Canadians. Alot of mfg are adopting this tactic to protect dealerships north of the border. I ran into this when I was looking for an Audi. Oh well...

Yup, crazy good deals on '06 RX8's right now.
Great time to buy, that's why I traded in my G35 and bought one.

If you know anyone that would like a new RX8 send them my way!
