I keep it in a detached garage that I rented. Every other day I go open the garage, look at my 8, sit in the 8, and then I come out, get in my beater and drive to work.

This way...

Taken about 2-3 weeks ago, no snow pics yet, but with the snow tires (pic), they do alright off-roading. It's not an Rx-8 by no means, but gives me my fix. Driving through snow banks is definitely good to lift the spirits, and it being RWD (4x4), I can enjoy some snow drifting and donuts When you drive something equipped the dominate the winter, you don't thing about not driving about the 8, you think: "bring it on!" It's good to sleep at night knowing she's safe and sound, tucked away, waiting for the good weather to come out and play...

Having it built. Side effect is that I have an empty garage to fill with crap.

Drive to see her weekly. Start her up, talk to her, wipe the dust off her (no cover).
I miss my baby...

Working on the 7 when I'm not shoveling snow. And in the New Year when it's too cold back to Forza Motorsport 3 but this time in a 7 not an 8.

My withdrawl isn't too bad. Having the Miata for my daily driver fixes alot of the cravings.
Can't wait for the new season though!

If the roads are clean and free of dirt and salt ..... take it for a spin

February always provides a few good days .... and wow ... summer tires on -30c roads is fun!
If not a little suicidal.

S-tech + Mazdaspeed bumper... how do you even drive in Toronto??? How do you get into malls, parking lot speed bumps, and assorted gas stations with high curbs?

When I have that "need" I take out my wife's 2011 128i cabriolet, the 3.0inline 6 with the stick is eal nice, it has winters on it now while my 8 sleeps under its cover...I could almost hear the 8 giggle.

My winter wheels is a '09 Ram 1500 with the 390 Hemi, reminds me of the 8...in fuel economy!

I do miss it though.

This my second winter with my 8 and the 95 MX-3 is still waiting to be driven as a winter beater. I can't do it! I love driving my 8 and just can't bring myself to parking it for the winter.

damn straight.

i dont know how you guys do it, storing your baby for almost half the year....the only way i could do that is if my baby were a porsche or something, and even then, it would have to be a sweat *** porsche. 997 gt3 RS to be specific. lol. and then the pain of not driving it would be even worse.

plus, driving a well balanced RWD car in the snow is a joy that every driving enthusiast must experience at least once in their lifetime.

When you lose one car to rust, your pride and joy roting away from underneath you, you want to take the best care of her to make sure she doesn't meet a slow demise, doesn't matter the cost of the car. It depends too on the person. People change their cars like they change their shoes, so it doesn't really matter. Some of us keep our cars a long time. I had my Mx-3 for 9 years, it was winter driven for 10 years prior to me taking her ownership. I'd like to think I'd keep the Rx-8 for longer. I'm not trying to preserve it's resale value, I don't care for that, I just want to keep my pride and joy in the best shape and condition possible; always sucked getting underneath and seeing it happen and spread. I also don't have to worry about any compromises in modifications where I need to take in account driving it in the winter.

Total agree with you! You can always buy two and use one as a winter beater, but it would not be my first choice as a winter car.

I bought my MX-3 new and drove HIM year round. Best little car I ever owned, and it has very little rust. I wanted something newer and I figured I had such great luck and fun driving the MX-3 that I would just have to get another Mazda. I know I made a great choice, because I love driving my RX-8....except driving into a gas station lately....besides years ago I wanted to buy an RX-7 but my ex made my buy a Ford Thunderbird. I ditched the ex and the T-bird and could only afford the MX-3 at the time. Great decision all the way round I must say!

I love the winter. Maybe I'll take my 8 for a drive to Toronto in February.
