Windsor anyone ???
Hey guys, been a while since I posted anything on this forum... Hope everybody's been enjoying the decent weather we've been having... anyways...
I was in Detroit over the weekend taking care of some stuff and decided to pop into the Shell and fill up. Man.. it was like 40 bucks to fill the tank... I was ecstatic! Cheap AND a higher Octane rating too?! Sweet.
So I've been driving around for the past few days and noticed that my fuel gauge is at just under half a tank of gas now... and I've only put about 130KM since filling up. I've gotten into the habit of resetting the trip meter every time I fill up to keep track of how much mileage I'm getting out of each fill up. The difference in gas mileage is mind boggling... I feel like I can almost see the needle move while driving with Detroit Gas.
When I fill up at the Shell here... I get about 200~230KM for a half a tank and up to 400KM until I have to fill it again. This isn't the first time I filled up in the states and got horrible gas mileage like this either.
So what I'm wondering is What Gives? Isn't 93 Octane supposed to be MORE resistant to combustion? I'm filling up exclusively at Shell over here and in Detroit... I figure.. If it's good enough for a Formula 1 Ferrari... it's good enough for my RX-8
Anybody else experience this?

More on gas
Many threads on gas -
I just got back from a run to North of Chicago - I fuel near Jackson Mi and in Waukeegan il
I also use Vpower 91 exclusively from Shell - and my studies show that it as no ethanol in Ontario - but to my shock when I did my drive to Chicago this week - the US pumps showed that the 91 had ethanol - which elevates the octane and depresses the mileage - that being said - who even knows if the stickers are true or if they change things without notice. I did get about 450 kms to tank (not totally empty, but close) and I add about 4 - 5 oz of RedLine so that elevates the octane as well. It was a hot 30 degrees and I was beating it pretty well, so I think I must be doing all right - I even popped on the air conditioning when I needed to make a call for a half hour. So not sure why you are seeing the mileage drop that you are seeing. I was musing that the first half of gauge seems to drop a lot faster than the second half- and thought I would try and see if there is a thread on that.

OK, since there was no real planning for a meet, let's do a day before Canada day meet, at Quick Sushi Boat on Sunday, June 30th! Give the heads up to any other rotor/mazda folks!
Around 11am or so, or whenever you can come over, it's not hard work by any means I just don't want to strain myself putting them in. (last time I did it myself and I pulled a muscle in my abs). I have a short shifter if you feel up to it.

I'm going to paint my rims later tonight also, gonna try flat black or gunbarrel dark grey, I will make a last minute decision on that one.
hit me up or text me if you want @ 519 nine 91 458 six
Thanks Fisher for the help! There is no way I could have passed those adjustment extenders though by myself, while I was under the car.
Going to buy some flat black paint for the rims today.
