I signed off today too! I'll be picking mine on Saturday. I was offered the same thing but at $570! Apparently it covers dings, rips, cracks etc at the end of the lease...I was not shown any documents though...

Augie!
At the time I signed my lease I had the option of paying a $750 security deposit (refundable) or paying $550 for "Wear Care". This is an insurance program that covers "excessive wear" charged to the vehicle at lease end - up to a value of $3500. I was told that it will cover everything from paint damage to windshield repapir tires, brakes etc. With the price of Bridgestone Potenzas I figure I'll easily get my value out of it!

I took it with my lease last November as well. With driving it in the winter here in Calgary, rock chips on the windshield are a given. I figure I'll get my money out of it at the end of the lease as well. The sales manager figured Mazda Canada is nuts for even offering it at the current price.

Re Wearcare - i assume that it only kicks in at lease end? in other words, if my tires wear out at 40k do they replace them???

That's right. The coverage is only available if you are returning your car at lease end.
