Vancouver Cruise OFFICIAL TALK

Ok the dates I have mapped out are may 7th or may 14th. I need a vote of which day is better and I need you to book it off so their is a maximum amount of people who will come. Please try and book it off so you can come i want this to be the biggest meeting before usoff leaves to HK. I want him to remember us for being the best damn car group ever!!!!! As for the location me and drew (once i get ahold of him) will be mapping out a route so right now just vote on the date and I will work everything out after that. I will be very through on the meeting spots the rest stops, eating breaks and communication.

As far as I know, we're talking about the Lilloett Loop drive. North on the sea to sky, to whistler, up to pemberton, then on the road through to lilloett, and down Highway one through the canyon, and through hope on the number one back into the mainland.

I'm down for May 7th (can't on 14th, girlfriend's coming into town)!
Link to pictures and talks of our last drive

Let's say meet at the church on top of Taylor Way sometime early in the morning so we might possible be able to do the whole loop?
I've got one set of radios, anyone else (Rohit...... your radio... lol never mind =p )?

It is a long drive and probably gonna take us a whole day and those of us who has other arrangements can decide if they want to turn back after lillooet.
I guess other cars can join us but please only invite those who you've known that aren't jackasses. We dont' want to cause a scene on the sea to sky.

either the 7th or 14th is fine with me, as long as the meet is relatively close to north van, i dont wanna head all the way to surrey or richmond for a meet since i live in north van

Yea I'm leaving on May26th for Hong Kong probably permanently!
I'll actually be busy on the 14th (picking someone special up from the airport), so I hope we'll decide on the 7th, but if more ppl can't make it on the 7th than 14th then so be it~
Yea SE3P driftboi all are welcome, just no initial D drifting around the hairpins on the way to lillooet! =P
Yes, we'll probably meet at the church on top of Taylor way ChaRulz (perhaps you're familiar with the name? I know lots of bikers use that as a meeting place too) and people who are arriving from richmond or surrey or vancouver who's uncomfortable with the directions can msg someone for their phone numbers (but the directions are pretty clear).
Good to hear a lot more interest this should be sweet with 10 8s going down S2S :D

Possible routes

I did some playing around with MapPoint and worked out a couple of options. Starting at the White Spot in Park Royal Mall, West Vancouver (where we can "fuel up" before the drive):

a) Lillooet and back:
Distance: 489km
Driving time (not including stops) 5.5 hours

b) Long Loop - Lillooet through Cache Creek
Distance: 688km
Driving time (not including stops) 8.5 hours

c) Short Loop - Lillooet through Lytton via Highway 12
Distance: 579km
Driving time (not including stops) 7 hours

On both loops I chose Highway 7 in from Hope, much more scenic than the TC, didn't add much time to the loop.

My vote would go for route c - I have not driven Highway 12 but it sounds good in this web link from a motorcyclist - make sure to click on his picture link at the bottom of this page:

http://members.shaw.ca/bjs1/duffy_lake_loop.htm

Drivers could choose to do the loop or head back from Lillooet depending on the time they have available and where they live. It would be shorter for me to do the loop then go back through West Van, so I'd choose the loop - also can't resist the sound of the twisties calling on Highway 12.

I've attached a PDF of option C.

Has anyone driven Highway 12?
