time for new tires

Wow, after 60,000KM of great summer only driving on my factory tires, looks like time to get them replaced.

Bridgestones are expensive, anybody have any good feedback on other manufacturers? Where are Ontario guys guying their tires from?

Thanks, appreciate any info, hope others can benefit from it as well. Hope to you guys on the road as soon as i get new slicks

What kind of performance level are you looking for?

If looking for best bang for your buck, I recommend the Falken RT-615. One of the best compromise between track and street tires. Good price, super dry grip, decent in the wet. I don't know about ride quality and road noise cuz I don't care about those things.

I'm looking at the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3 245-40-18 from the U.S.
Less than $200 in the US. Around $400 in Canada

In my experiences Goodyear Eagle F1 tires wear very quickly! But, they are fantastic for dry grip.

I really like Dunlop, Michelin, and Hankook! Hankook has great prices and I have nothing but great things to say about them.

Take a look at the Tirerack!!

I just picked up my RE050A Pole Positions for about 1/4 of the price offered here in Canada!

I'd stick with Bridgestones. If it's good enough for Ferrari...

Wow, 60k was a fairly long run...

Try vancouver-based www.1010tires.com. They have great prices to begin with, negligible shipping costs, and no PST since you're in Ontario. I just bought a set of 245/40R18 Toyo T1R's for $250 each from them. Kumho SPT's are a very popular tire on the forum, and they're $225 (or 195 if you want the stock tire size). The F1's are $370.

Another option is TireTrends

For ultimately cheapness, you can get away with paying only $750 after shipping/tax for the Kumho (only $163/tire!)

wow, appreciate the great responses. Ultimately, I was looking for new performance tires, and now I know they wont come cheap no matter where I look

Neo's right, I think I should stick with Bridgestone's regardless. Right now, the road noise was just ridiculous with my worn out tires, i thought i was driving on a flat.

The stock OEM's are known to do that.

Can't go wrong with the RE050A PP's.

I have the RE050A PP's, they are very good, though it seems they are something that will wear out fast.

I heard good things about Toyo's in general. Not the cheapest but will probably cost less than Bridgestone's and Michelin's.

kumho are not bad... i might pick up a set.
There is a brand of tire i think called Wanli??? they basically look like a toyo copy & are performance rated and cheap has anyone ever tried them...
if a tire has the same rating as another, it should act in somewhat the same way...shouldn't it???

I just bought T1R's myself. I paid about $300cdn/tire. They are the best most durable and sticky non-R compound out there.

This morning a put a set of Nexen n3000 on the 8. (245/40 18) I have only driven from the shop to work but already I have noticed they are a lot quieter than the RE40's. Time and miles will tell what they are like to live with.

For all you Calgary folks.... when I had the Nexen n3000s put on this morning at CMS I found out that they also carry the Wanli s1088 and it is actually made by Nexen. The tread pattern on the N3000 and s1088 is the same so I am inclined to believe them - and the price is right.
