one pissed 8 owner
I went to a friends house for a BBQ. As I am getting ready to leave I approach my car and see someone nail my car, and drive off. I couldn't get the license plate, despite running after the car for two blocks. Called the police and they were all but useless "take it to the reporting centre tommorow" Needless to say i am pissed. Anybody know a really good autobody?

Sorry to hear about that...I'm worried that if that ever happened to me I'd be capable of killing someone!

canadian_8, Sorry to hear that.
The good thing is that it's minor damage and easily fixed.
Just don't take it to the place recommended by insurance.
9291150, lighten up man. I'll only kill someone if they're hurting my kids. Cars are repairable.

ouch sorry to hear that! there really is nothing worst than hit and run, it shows nothing but disrespect when they just take off without claiming responsibility. I dont know how people like that can sleep at night.
But it is fortunate the damage is not too seriously and can be fixed, defnitly not worth going through insurance.

We have damage to the exact same area.
I always take my car to Low Cost Autobody on Edmonton Trail. They do great work. The do quite a bit of work on exotics in that shop. When Kane had his rear damage I think he took his RX8 there too.
sorry to hear about the damage. I feel your pain.

But nothing burns me more that vandalism, got hit a few times by it, there is nothing lower IMO. First time I was just out of school, living on my own with my first car, did it all on my own but was balancing my budget to the penny. I only could afford basic coverage, and got my car keyed bumper to bumper.
To this day it just sets me off, maybe I do need counseling...

I am in London right now for school, and my insurer doesnt think they will recommened any specific shop. The first estimate i got was ~$1500. My insurance shouldn't go up because of a hit and run claim, should it? They also waived $500 of my deductable because i reported it to the police within 24 hours, which was surprising considering they are an insurance company.
and with regards to the shoes comment, it has been ~20'C the last two days here, short and sandle weather!

Classic auto at nelles corners does an awesome job. is within 1 hour of you, and would put solid efforts into the car. Its where i took mine when it was hit and run.

That shouldn't be too bad, unless the bumper clips are cracked. Isn't the surround around the exhaust a separate part from the rear valance itself? Provided that the tip is OK, the exhaust looks OK.

Go to Eric Westman Collision. 519-455-9850. Just east of 3rd street on Oxford.
Ask for Dave. They do great work. Tell 'em the black RX-8 sent ya
Oh, and BTW, tell me where your friend's BBQ was, so I can avoid the area.

Same thing happened to me. One of my friends noticed a car backing into my 8. They went to the other side of the parking lot and fortunately I found them and confronted him. He claimed he didn't run into me but the yellow paint on his bumper prooved otherwise. He ended up paying the $1500. My exhaust pipe was bent and crimped so they replace the exhaust. It was a good time to upgrade to greddy sp2! Had it fixed at J&J autobody in Sarnia. They did a great job.
Sorry to hear about H&R!

Your profile mentions Calgary, I'm hoping that means Alberta.

I know of two excellent Auto body shops. Both are in BC.
One in Delta, One in Richmond.
If you want to drive into the lower mainland, then check out these places:
For heavy paint damage light body restoration: "Sharp Collision" - Richmond
For light paint damage but heavy body restoration: "Erick's Collision and Restoration"
Erick's Restoration
Erick is restoring a horribly molded Extreme Dimensions front bumper. Hell if he can do that, heck, this guy can do anything!

My opinion: "Stopping someone from being born, is not murder."
Dude, you took the words right out of my mouth!
These days, it seems all the wrong people are having kids....
Child birth should be a privilege, not a right. I vote for the introduction of human created epidemic that euthanizes the human species, leaving child birth to an expensive ticket item provided by medical science. That leaves child birth to (presumably) those who can afford to raise a child. (Raising children in poverty is not a right... I [Gyro_Bot] feel it is a crime")
Also, a mandatory human morals / standards class in our educational system. As mandatory as math or English.
I think our species could use a greater metric for the term "Human Beings". It should be used to describe not the individual, but larger logical cross sections of ideology, regardless of political borders. All laws should be created and passed on this metric, this way no one voice may overshadow the rest.
An annual global tolerable / intolerable survey would do that trick. Finally, a survey that matters.
That's my humble opinion anyways.
Plese forgive me everyone, for my strong opinions on this subject.
