I got it done, and initially, I had thought the engine had better idle management, but nah, it's still the same, which was pretty good before so I'm good. Also, acceleration has slightly improved as my throttle is more responsive now. I think basically it improves whatever was not working right before, so if your car was working right before, then you probably won't notice any significant changes.

^^^ Ben your car likely feels good because they cleared the ecu

Read here https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/ecu-clear-reset-27548/

Most ppl find that after you reset the ecu that the car runs "better" for awhile.

It's likely all in our heads but ... hey .... whatever works...

Thumbs down

Yep new flash. better idle and drivability but top end power is gone and top speed is limited to 180 klm

04 RX-8 new coils ,new oil, new flash, recalls = top speed of 180 klm

Top speed limit to 180km/h??? you mean by ECU speed limiter or just the car?

I don't like to reflash my ECU, esp after "lapping" days in "advanced driving school" 'cause the car drives much better for a week after those days...

I had mine flashed during maintenance in July, I never did get the # but my dealership told me it was the latests. (not sure if I beleive them or not)

In any case, not that I do this often, but I did go up to 225kmph after that. I havent heard anything about a limiter on the last flash.

My thoughts exactly. Car runs great and I don't want to touch a thing to change it.
