Ah...got it now that it is you that started this thread on getting the new ride, didn't pay attention when I posted before and then saw your other post in the other thread.

Ya for sure hope to see ya around. Not many 8's around our area so when you get yours post up a pick and I will keep an eye out for ya. I haven't seen any other WBs around are area so i should be ez to spot.

FYI - learn from my mistake/s don't bother with Ajax Mazda, Scar Mazda is worth the trip!!!

If you don't have your car yet and want a ride out to one of the meets, let me know can prob pick ya up and bring ya out.

Everyone keeps talking about a clutch test, or getting the dealer to look at the clutch for you. Basically, a clutch test is putting the car in 3rd gear with the ebrake on and seeing if it stalls as soon as you let the clutch. Most mechanics dont drive RX8s all day every day, so they wont be able to say yours is toast or mint or whatever unless it fails that clutch test i mentioned. You get what you get when you buy used you know. Its still good to have a dealer look at the car, like i said before, just dont expect them saying the car seems okay to mean that its going to be perfect for the next year or something. If cars were that simple then there wouldnt be a need for mechanics in the first place.

Greg so this clutch test...I would figure the car is supposed to stall right away correct? Let the clutch out quickly and that's it? (don't feel like searching for it I know ).

I know the price sounds right, and good, and all that, but 14 700$ for an AS IS 04? I see it only has 60k, and is a GT, but I just bought mine from there a month ago, it was an 05 VR, GT, with 73k, and it was only 14 900$ saftied/certified. The fact that yours is 1 year older, but 13k less km's kinda balances the price out, but it's like they're saying it can be saftied for 200$

I personally would never buy a vehicle that wasn't saftied unless it was a project car. It's totally up to you though. I'd try and get them down on the price too if you could.

Want a photo-copy of my bill of sale to slap in there face? lol

A decent service manager should know this. The dude at Ontario Mazda did... the benefit of having someone who's done them before is that they'll be able to tell almost instantly and will pop the clutch back in if it's alright... thoses tests are extremely hard on the clutch.. and if you don't know what you're doing it's a great way to fry em.

And yes... there's no garantee either way even having the dealer looking at the car that everything's gonna be good. It's just like buying any other car... the only diff is that they should be able to point out if anything major is wrong.

Yes please lol, is there a technique i need to know about backhanding a salesperson with a bill of sale?flick of the wrist maybe?, and basically the best bet is to actually depend on myself rather then a dealership? well when it comes to checking if the car is basically good like rotarygreg said, but its nothing the average person couldnt do, meaning even i could test the car in the same way correct? for minor noticeable problems though, I dont mind though cause your all helping with what to look out for and what not, and nice thumper ill definitly keep this "Al" character in mind

Oh and rotarygreg i understand that cause the dealership said its ok, doesnt mean i wont run into problems, thats pretty much been solidfied, for someone to think the car would run for a nice year without a minor problem cause the dealership said so doesnt work, we understand that a mech is not god or has vedo power lol, but it makes sense, i think i will pass the car by a dealership to check if anything is CURRENTLY wrong, i think is the best bet, otherwise ill just take care of the car, if i get it... like everyone else should, **** happens right?
