Sad news from Belleville

I have some sad news for those of us that terrorized the roads of Quinte a few months ago. You all remember Quick 7's classic red RX7 that was leading the way much of afternoon.
Well our original rotary had a close encounter of the bloody kind last night with a deer. The deer is now someone's dinner.
The great news is that Quick is fine. The car is dented but okay... we think. It drives fine and there does not appear to be any frame damage. One fender and a new hood and a chance to freshen up the paint. Helas... could you post a picture of old "red rex" in better days?

Glad to hear Quick is fine and the car is not too bad . . . You have to hate deer along the road, there was a park in Wyoming I went though in the evening last year where there were deer grazing in the ditch about every hundred yards for miles. I was a nervous wreck after that because you never know what they will do and they make a lot of bad choices . . .

It was a bad week for RX-7s, a red 2nd gen exactly like Quick's spun out immediately in front of me last weekend during the the Ottawa cruise, he was lucky there was nothing coming the other way. He had this really scared look on his face though which I could see clearly because he stopped facing me! He didn't have the car anywhere near the limits if it was in good shape but he put a back tire off the pavement and the rest I will chalk up to inexperience. Further on a 1st gen rolled in a ditch and was totalled (the occupants walked away). That person must have been driving at crazy speeds, I just can't imagine, the corner just wasn't that sharp. There was still a bit of sand from winter on some of the roads so one had to exercise a degree of caution in tight curves, at least I did . . . After that incident I was just slowly tootling along with nobody around me and the inevitable happened, I came over a hill and the QPP waved me over behind a line of Mazda vehicles. Even going slowly with nobody around me the velocity(arrest me officer) red probably did me in, the 8 is not terribly stealthy :-) They were just demonstrating their presence by checked documents and then just let everyone go. After that every RX-7 & 8 was marked and as luck would have it another QPP car towing a boat decided to follow me for good 25 Km down highway 105, what a painful drive that was. Too much crazy stuff happened on this drive which took away from the fun aspects, last years was a lot more fun and the Bellville cruise was great. There are lots of photos here, lots of very nice cars and what not to do with ones car: http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.ph...&page=16&pp=15

It was also good to see Dan up for the BBQ and Show'n Shine. Hope Quick's 7 makes a speedy recovery and safe motoring everyone . . .
