Was an awesome day, good to meet everyone. I'd definitely be up for another day either last weekend of August or in Sept (too busy before that).
I only have one thing that I wasn't impressed with; this is directed to whoever was driving the 3: I realize that your driving skills are probably far beyond mine and many others at the track, but passing me and the guy in front of me in a corner was very poor judgment on your part. With a track full of newbies, you can't tell how they'd react to that and it really wouldn't have taken much for someone to merge right into you. Worst part is, this was about 5 seconds before the back straight -- had you waited 5 more seconds, I would have let you pass me in a safe area. I expect much better judgment from experienced drivers, especially since the first thing that was stressed was no passing in the corners.

I think the driver go with the 3 just for shxt and giggles...no way in hell a 8 will let a 3 pass on the back straight...:P
He did commented that your 8 is strong when he is driving my car though...
Overall, I love the experience. Rain driving makes me a better driver since it forces you to be smooth!

great day indeed dudes, despite of the poor track conditions! this has been definitely one of the best experiences I've ever had (minus the slipping and the fishtailing, i can do without!)
to be honest, i learned a lot about car handling, control and how to take those damn turns after being tossed and thrown around in my own car and in that beast mustang! it's good to learn from a pro, but boy oh boy, i have a loooooonnnggg way to go. one thing im proud to say is that; ive overcome my fear of turns!
thanks again Al and Thumper for making this happen! and nice to see 8 owner's have fun (= looking forward to the next one!

I would have let him pass because I respect that he can drive the course better than I can. A friend of mine in Ottawa drives his 3 way better than I drive my 8... he beats me by about 8 seconds at AutoX.
BTW, what exactly was that orange race car out on the track? I'm sure it's mostly custom but I'd like to know what the base was / what's under the hood

welcome to the track. people pass you and its YOUR job to stay out of their way. i understand sometimes you may feel uncomfortable when someones passes you as he did. but your on a race track! if you cant handle having cars pass you should find yourself a different hobby.
also i would stay away from any other track events since most of them have a lot more passing. I'm sure you guys remember the imagine motorsports events and the anything goes rules.
ps out of the country from aug13-27.

Got the soggy car back to the dealership and unloaded by about 12:30am, thanks to Josh, Jay and Ryan for coming back and helping me! The rain really brings out who has the best "feel" for what their car is doing and be able to keep it in the edge of adhesion all the time..................thank god for stability control, it saved my *** a couple of times! From pit out we got to watch just how good the stability control is when a few of you "missed" lol. One wet day out of 3 isnt that bad, Thumper wants to do an August one can we get 20 people again?
If we book one in August can me NOT do it between the 17th and 24th. I will be out of the country then...

I don't care if people want to pass in the corners, the point is that this person was not following instructions and therefore introduced an unexpected element into the track day, which is dangerous. If you can't follow instructions, stay home.

You are correct in that we had said it wasnt wise to pass into a corner. No to make excuses, but when you have a true pro driver who doesnt do lapping days with new drivers on the track, old habits are hard to break. I know its not an excuse, but just the fact of why it happened, and I did speak to him later about it.

The orange car is a Panoz Esperante, these were originally developed as a chassis to be used as a driving school car for racing schools put on by Panoz Motorsports (who own Mosport, Sebring and Road Atlanta). They also sold some of these to private owners to be used in SCCA GT1 and GT2 club racing. They originally came with Ford 5.0 and 4.6 engines depending on the year of production. The car at the track yesterday had a Ford small block that was punched out to 427 cubes. It made 600 ft/lbs of torque on the dyno. Bet that was fun in the rain.......LOL

Another awesome track day. Can't wait for the next! Thanks to everyone for a great time.
Below are some amateur pics. I was more interested in getting back into the car to get back on the track!
