Thanks Shamblerock.. That's not a bad idea...

Yes for sure. I will see and ask around on how to establish this club..

I guess the first thing we need should be the name of the club.

I have checked some domain name for the internet site.

1. torx8club.com is avaliable
2. torx8.com is avaliable.

these are the 2 names I can think of so far.. nothing really special but it represents the club.

anybody else have a idea please speak out so we can vote for a name.

as for the web site, I will see what I can do and start this thing up.

Let me know if this is a good idea and if people are really in with starting this club.

thanks

Hi all,

This meet turned out better than I expected. Its good to meet everybody, chat about my favorite toy. It was a decent showing, all models and colours were properly represented... definiity the highlite for me was the-thus-far-all-elusive lightning yellow (but RX8 AT??? ... jk :D raresight indeed) mzspeed set it up large, cheers.

p.s. if you guys want a TO only space, y not just get this site's Admin to setup a TO forum?

looking forward to meeting up again soon.

Leo

Yes apaul's yellow was nice and it was the sharpest one out of the bunch... It doesn't really matter if the car is MT or AT, it's still a great car and we love to drive it every single minute, so we should not say anything more about this.

The meet was great and apaul was a very nice man. He came to the meet as he said he would since he was coming in from Oshawa, we can tell he really love to be in meets and meet new people and talk about our favorite toy. It would be a shame if he doesn't come to our meets anymore and IF we have a club going that he will not join.

just hope everyone is cool with this...

really looking forward to another meet...

for sure I will set something up before this year ends... It's October now... me thinking probably sometime end of November since in December people will be very busy with Christmas shopping ETC..

I will set a date later on

thanks

If we want to do a video shoot, we'll have to meet before the snow comes. We'll need about a half dozen RX-8's and about a few hours to horse around and get the shots.

for a name, here are a few of my suggestions:

RX8cluboftoronto.com
torontorotary8club.com
torontorx8club.com
RX8clubofhollywoodnorth.com

Apaul, your the writer here, I'm sure you have a few good suggestions!

apaul: Don't sweat the people who are jelous BTW: if you see a red Rx-8 in Oshawa with a personalized plate and factory spoilers/crests then don't forget to wave.

Pretty sure I seen ya about a week ago heading up either Ritson or Wilson.

Wish I went but had things to do. Toronto Chapter, post a thread we will join .

Apaul - I drive an automatic. Can I drive stick, sure. If people snub (I could never remember if it's with two b's or not), remember the following:

1) our torgue is higher.
2) we have F1 inspired paddle shifters (which, if anyone is truly insane...er...has the time to, can convert the AT to a Lamourguini trasmission like with paddle shifting) which are so much fun.
3) those who snub don't get "it" and we can only feel sorry for them.
4) He/She who points the finger will always have four pointing back at themselves.
5) Perhaps you can reactivate the Camp X for personal needs and snub those who offend, if you know what I mean .

Looks like another sea of red :D Glad to see some more T-greys out there.

BTW how did the book promo go?

Thanks, hobbes (Wow, you have stuff there that I never thought of ) and ALL. Case closed. Done. Over

The book launch went v. well, thanks. Even though the weather at startup was foul, we had over 100 folks show. NO idea how many books we flogged..will know soon. ..right hand stiff from signing!! A good thing, as Martha would say.

The highlight, once again, was Robbie Cressman and his colleagues demonstrating their Defendo Special Forces Combat System .. I didn't volunteer to be a pigeon this time.. basically though, it's a non-lethal self-defense system. Courses offered. I'm including their link because they are so supportive of our Camp X series. .and they are superb..

http://www.defendo.ca/home.htm

I was thinking about it, Shamblerock.. X Men ( that would cover 7's and 8's)-- um, sexist.. non-inclusive .. copyright infringement. Lawsuits! Aaargh Nope.

Will give it some more serious thought..anyone else?

yes if anybody have more ideas on the name of our Toronto RX8 club, please let us know.. so we can decide and I can at least registered the domain first for the webpage.

Shamblerock's names are not bad...

apaul's name is cool but yes there is going to be copy right issues...

well any more ideas would be great.

As for the video, I guess we have to see who is interested in coming out and have that filmed. If it's going to be before winter then I guess these 2 to 3 weeks max...

I guess this could also be our next meet if anyone is interested in coming out again.

if not then I guess we will have to film the video next year which is not a rush.

But definately we will come out again before this year ends...

I'm easy either way. No rush like you said. In fact, it may give us more time to bring in more members and more ideas!

Mzpeed, thanks for all your efforts. Let us know how we can help out. It is a big job to get this club started!

Suppose we should include 'Club' . In which case, it would be rx8torclub.com

The names are getting better for the club...

so far I think

rx8tor.com
clubgt8.com
rx8club.to
torotor8club.com (just thought of this one)

are pretty good choices

if anybody have any other suggestions please speak out... If not I will see if I can create a poll for these names and we can see what people choose.

Thanks all for the contributions.

Thanks Cubakid, for sure I will let you know if help is needed. Does anyone know how to create a good web page. I sort of know how but not an expert. But I will try to start something first and ofcourse we can change it along the way.

Dreamweaver, great program when you figure out how to use it, which I'm still doing. I suggest posting a thread up asking for a helping hand with the webstuff; there must be some web Jedi Masters on the forum. I can help out with some graphic duties; logos and such. I'm not an expert but willing to help out.

When all is set up, those with connections in the car side of things should talk and hopefully bring about discounts for all. (Ahh..no more calling for group buys...we can say club and be done with it.)

apaul - Glad to hear you have a good turnout. copyrights and so forth, well, your editor should be on the lookout for you, heck you agent should too. I would say, didn't know, I'm sorry, here I'll make a forward about in a reprint. Makes me think about the football movie Blues or something like that, where UT got them to state it had nothing to do with UT's football team...and people wonder where universities use their money?

I had a talk with a editor about my latest rejection. Yeah I know, who needs a letter when they can say it over the phone. Anyway, I PMed you about a possible writer's conference he's trying to put together. If anyone is interested in hearing more, PM me and I'll pass you the URL.

I will start up a page first then we can change it in any way later.

and yes forget about group buys, we have a club now,.. so discount all the way... haa haa
