RX8 Highway Accident Update (Help Me)

Hey guys,

I just got the estimate on my car. 14,800 OUCH!!!

And my insurance company apparently wants to go through with the repairs which i think is BS! Is there anything I can do to make it a write off???

Please list off the repair list. If there isn't any engine or suspension damage the car should be fine.

Is your car worth double that of 14,800? If so then no write off.

15G's in repairs?!
What happened???

Usually when insurance companies see that, they write the car off!

There's probably damage to the trunk floor, that's why it's so expensive.

I guess to help your case, you need to show that this car is worth LESS than they say it does. Seriously, your car shouldn't retail more than $23-24k absolute max. I guess you need another $3000 worth of damage before they'd total it.

Thanks Rems..

I thought it was another person... I should've checked the other thread first... no matter...

That's gotta suck! 15G's in repairs...
But the car does look structually sound...

You know what they say... once hit, it's never the same...

I'm still waiting for the body shop to fax me the repair list. I'll post it as soon as they do.

damage doesn't look too bad... perhaps the shop you went to does high end cars and charges an arm and a leg for repairs.

By the way the other day at Mosport I noticed that your DRL module is f-cked (seems like everyone have the same problem). One side of the halogen headlight is not working. Might want to get them to fix it while you're at it.

Holy schnikes! That is a huge number. I guess you could always take a bat to it and add a couple more thousand in damage.

Get a quote from the dealer and see if it compairs....if it does and you can't write off, I'd let the dealer fix it.

I took it to Erin Mills Mazda so it is a dealer quote I guess.

Well I just got the quote, I don't have a soft copy so I cant post it either. There is one thing on there that does scare me,

SD RAIL, REAR FRAME P1Y15481XE 229.78

SD RAIL, REAR FRAME REPAIR

This must mean I have some sort of frame damage right?. Waiting for a call back from the body shop for details.

And they are trying to replace only 1 tire. Who Does that??

No good can come from frame repair!

I talked to some insurance people I know. Apparently there is nothing I can do to make them write it off. The math that is used is Payout - Salvage Value VS. Repair cost. So if the math works one way, thats what happens.

They should realize the structural integrity of the car has been compromised. To hell with cost!
You pay an arm and a leg for insurance, and when it comes time to do their job, they try to stiff you!!
Stupid insurance companies!!!

The car still runs? right?? Instead of send it to a repair shop, can you send it to a tuning shop and install a body kit instead?? that should only cost about $3000max including the frame repair.

does anyone know a good tuning shop in ontario??
