Have u tried using a remote starter before?
I've installed one on my other car but never for my Rx8, I dont think so its a good idea. And much worse for a manual transmission.
Most of the remote starter had a specific wire connection or wiring for safety reason for the manual transmission.
I've installed a cheaper one(from XS Cargo) but it doesn't have a wiring for your tachometer or fuel injector...so sometimes it takes 2 attempt before my car(toyota) start.
I've installed a PRO Start(from Crappy Tire) on my friend's SUV and it had a specific wire for your tachometer or fuel injector...and the result..it doesn't stop the starter to spin until it start the engine.
The reason i don't installed a remote starter on my 8..
1)I might flood the engine
2)burn the starter
3)bump the garage door???
just my 2 cents

If you decide to go a remote starter, I'd say go with a full alarm system like Clifford/Matrix which has a remote starter with a manual/tach mode, turbo timer etc. But this solution will not be cheap as the installation and programming can be time consuming to get it right. IMHO

RIP Mx-3. Hello Rx-8!
My Mx-3 and my Xterra both have/had remote starters, both were manual transmission. One was a ProStart, the other an AutoStart, literally the same thing. There's a process that you have to set the starter before exiting the vehicle. Prevents any accidental starting while the car is in gear, but if you didn't get it the night before, you've got no remote starter in the morning. Alot of people like to install the ones for an automatic and just disable the clutch-start switch.
Good remote starters not only have a tach sense wire, but they can also be set for voltage, where it'll recognize if the car is running by the voltage.
With the remote starter, you also need a module to interface with the factory anti-theft system. Mazdas typically use Fords PATS system. These modules add to the total cost, plus add extra installation time.
There is the benefit of having the remote starter tied in for the turbo-timer feature, adds extra anti-theft measures.
Ungo is a good one, actually is just a rebranded Viper. I've never had a hard time with the AutoStart/ProStart ones, but the truck came with it. I want to have a Viper in both Xterra and Rx-8 so I can just use one remote. I really want a pager feature.
I can't see one flooding an Rx-8 if it's a quality starter and properly installed. I'd just be affraid of flooding it when you're doing the installation, calibration and testing.

I just put in a Titan security/starter system in my 8 and love it.nothing like going to wal mart in line at the cash and starting it or my security vibrating saying some dill hole is giving my 8 a door ding. It works good on a manual with your foot off the clutch and it in nutral u put the e-brake on and it beeps at u then take the keys out,it now knows that the car is not in gear. You then jump out and when the last door is closed the car will shut off and lock the doors for u.works awsome
