recommend options?

We're looking at buying in the next month. What kind of options would you recommend? Also, does anyone know if the maintenance warranty is available in Alberta (Canada) and would you recommend this?

By options do you mean manual vs auto / GS vs GT and/or appearance package stuff?

Any options would be helpful. I just want to know what parts of the 8 people have found to be good and bad. Thanks!

Of all the accessories that I got, I think the airdam improves the look the most. Of course the airdam alone just doesn't look right without the side and rear deflectors.

Although the rotor accents seemed like a good idea at the time... I don't really think they're as noticeable as they should be for what they cost :D

I think the spoiler is 50/50 with me. although I got it, i think i would've been fine without it.

If you look at my sig, you'll see (obviously) what I chose. Ironically I was down on leather and Velocity Red until I actually saw it in person. I was originally thinking of going for the Black GS.

I spent a lot of time looking at photos of stock & non-stock 8s before I picked my appearance package. I think the front air-dam with a rotary accent makes the car... as someone said above. The rotary accents are expensive, but if you don't get them you'll have black rotary symbols there anyway (front and back).

The rear spoiler is a toss-up. I think it looks good with and without. Definitely get some tinting for the rear. Makes a huge difference also.

The nav is a self contained unit using GPS guidance and a DVD based database. The database (by NavTech) is incomplete for Canada, but can be updated periodically as NavTech updates them. There is no monthly fee, but if you want to update the DVD, that will cost. Speaking of which, I think I'll check to see if an update is out yet.

For more information try the search feature.

The options I had purchased were Nav, roof, 6MT. The one option I got which everyone comments about is the Driver and Passanger front foot lamps. I thought that is was a waste of money until after they were installed they were red, and my car is red. Everyone comments on them. I do not know if the colour changes with the car, but you could easily do that if you did not get the viscosity red.

I have seen spoilers, rotar crest, and air dams, I like the car clean with the stock lines, but everyone has different opinions.

Nav is GREAT!!, new version for Canada comes on June/July of this year, but the DVD I have now is VERY ACCURATE! Would highly recommend.

Any quesitons let me know
Doug

By the way, speaking of the NAV, did anyone took their down to the states with our Canada version ?? I reason I ask is because I worried that they might have the US map in there or they might not be very detail and accurate. Any info will be much appreciate. Thanks, as I'm a newbie with NAV systems

Err... I was going to be real jerk and try to make a funny... but I think I'll just quietly suggest that I am fairly certain the colour is Velocity Red... you might want to check on that... Either way, its a great colour, and I am with you man: the NAV is great! Glad to hear that a new version of the disk comes out in June or July...

How are you mapquest'ing from your car exactly?

Anyone who doubts the Nav as an option clearly hasn't used it. The Nav is one of the most fantastic things about the 8, and I think is easily worth the extra $2k. You will never again need directions anywhere as long as you have an address to plug in, you can mark all of your frequently travelled points and calculate distance, hell, you can use this thing to get dinner recommendations....by going to restaurants, and then it breaks them out by type, in DETAIL...Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Thai....Italian, Mexican....the list goes on for about 50 entries. Shows you the closest 5 restaurants in that category in relation to your vehicle.

When I'm booting around town, I just ask my Nav where the closest Starbucks or Tim Hortons are, and bang, I'm pointed exactly where to go.

On the accessory side, the air damn in as expensive must to get the agressive look (as opposed to the more Miata look), along with the side and rear deflectors. I'd also recommend the tail and I personally like both front and rear rotary accents.

Don't bother with the exhaust finishers. I paid over $500 for mine, and you can't even see them.

My 2 cents.

I have the Ti gray GT, 6 speed mt, rear spoiler, and navi. Dislike the Bose sound system but no choice with the navi.

BTW it doesn't have a keyboard just a few keys and a ****. You choose the letters and numbers with category and search type. It works pretty well. Also with Mapquest you don't get the sexy female voice giving you directions . I have used my navi in BC so I am guessing that the CA and USA disc is the same. They both cover North America minus Mexico.
