I'm going to purchase a 8 in the next couple weeks and would love a little list i can bring into the dealership to compare prices and options.
If anyone can help me get the best deal, post what you paid including gst and pst and any extras!
Thanks

I bought a GT 6spd with moonroof in November. Paid MSRP. The only 'negotiating'(if you could call it that) was for my 99 miata trade in. That was it, no breaks, peaks or perks. I did receive a letter from mazda saying that they will now include the recent grad rebate (I was too late for mine, graduated in '98).
Good luck. Just remember, those dogs can see you coming for the rx-8 a mile away.

Do you mean the Mazda accessories, like splash guards, side strakes, rotary accents, etc.?
You have basically 3 options:
- Buy from dealer. Prices are available on the Mazda Canada web site; you might get 10% off if you buy at the time you purchase your car.
- Buy from forum sponsor Canzoomer, who is in Edmonton. He has contacts in Japan who get him the accessories direct, bypassing Mazda Canada, so some of his items are much cheaper.
- Buy from forum sponsors Trussville or Rosenthal, who are dealers in the US. Factor in the exchange rate and some shipping costs, and many of the accessories are significantly cheaper to buy in the US - but not all! Some are cheaper from the Canadian dealers.
You need to figure out which accessories you want, then price out all 3 (4) choices, and decide what to buy where.
FWIW - I bought the all-weather floor mats, front and rear rotary accents, and splash guards at the dealer. I bought the side strakes from Rosenthal.
Regards,
Gordon

MSRP. Nav and Moonroof. Cut a bit of a break on my Miata trade in as I had bought that car also at the same dealership.
Pretty much same quote on RX8 everywhere I went.

MSRP is not the rule. There are delalers that will give you a good internet discount, The one I found is http://www.cars4u.com. They are a discount dealer and leasing company.
For a quote send an e-mail to Mike Mazgay: MMazgay@cars4u.com. He has been very helpful and accomodating in reaching a deal with a good discount.

Don't compare w/the states....
It's supply and demand. We got a way lower amount of cars sent to Canada, therefore demand is high for this car. Basically the dealer can charge MSRP without a problem.
In the states, a lot of dealers have 10-20 Rx-8's on their lot. So therefore too much supply puts more negotiating power in the customers hands. If you want info on where I picked mine up, send me a PM.

MSRP last July - got the second one off the dealer on a whim - One Thursday, I was checking them out to see if I could fit in them. I couldn't fit in the demo with a sun roof so I asked to try one of the preordered ones. Perfect fit. So the sales person says "Want to order one? You can have it next spring". I countered with "No, but I'll take this one if the other guy doesn't want it" Turns out he didn't so by Tuesday I was driving it off the lot. No regrets on this one.
