Odds are they forgot to fill it up at the dealer, some peope have had problems in the beginning with a leak, do a search, and I think someone had that problem before, btu my suggestion is to keep an eye on your oil on a regular basis, as well, if it starts using lots real fast, take it to the dealer and question them on this.

Take it to another dealer to check it out then, the service departments seem to be more helpful, and quite a bit more knowledgeable than sales people.

Did your oil pressure guage indicate low? I believe that oil is to be checked every second fill-up.

Drove about 1000km so far. No oil consumption to speak of. But I keep a jug of 5W-20 in the trunk just in case.

More info - how many km did you drive in that month? As asked above, what do you mean by "bone dry" - if you pulled the drain plug, nothing came out, or was the dipstick showing the level at the bottom mark, or what?

You did read the owners manual where it tells you that the rotary engine is supposed to use oil, and that YOU are supposed to check the oil level at every second gas fillup? Unless you only used two tanks of gas in that month, then the low oil level is YOUR fault, not the dealer's. What's normal is that the car will use a litre of oil every 2000 km or so. Some people have had higher oil consumption during break-in (which is a good justification for checking the oil level every other fill of gas).

Regards,
Gordon
