have fun guys...I've got a wedding to attend to on the same day. Southwood rd looks like fun...

RXeckless 07-03-2012 02:34 PM

I may have gone, but at Ontario Time Attack on Saturday. Have fun but watch it Southwood Rd. is busy during the summer months with all the cottages off it.

Maffu313 07-03-2012 11:23 PM

Thanks footman for all the planning!! Really looking forward to this!

Darklight9 07-03-2012 11:47 PM

I should be getting my car back on friday so I would love to go, but are there any Petro's in Gravenhurst? Reason i'm asking is because my car is tuned to run on 94 octane :s

Neo 07-04-2012 06:43 AM

Getting closer o the actual cruise day, and they're calling for thunderstorms. :(
I hope it clears up.
One thing is for sure, it's going to be very toasty!!

Footman 07-04-2012 07:07 AM

Yes, there are a few Petro Canada's in Gravenhurst. The gas station I selected "was" a Sunoco, so good chance it is now a Petro, and if it hasn't been converted, Sunoco is the original one that has 94 octane.

Footman 07-04-2012 07:09 AM

On Saturday morning, check this page at 0900. If the weather is looking extremely bad, I will force postpone the cruise. We will still if it is just misting or drizzling, that's how we did it last time. The reason is... because we're going so far, what the weather is like here is not indicative of what the weather is up there!!!

If it was a Sunoco then it is now definately a Petro but it should still have 94 octane. As far as I know most if not all of the converted sites still offer 94 although unless you're boosted 91 is perfect.

Maffu313 07-04-2012 05:09 PM

Oh he's boosted alright xD but yeahh some Sunoco turned into husky

maitre 07-04-2012 05:29 PM

Here's my update: there is currently a bridge out on Rama rd. (No other construction to be found in the Rama area as of last weekend though!) There is an easy detour, Switch rd over to hwy 169; unfortunately it does introduce one extra left turn, but it's right at the end of the drive anyway, so I think it's worth it.

Map of the area for your viewing convenience:

What's with all the weddings in the summer? This isn't wedding weather, this is DRIVING weather! Mike, you better not be chickening out because of ONE RAILWAY ... ;D (Seriously though, sorry you can't make it, you'd have loved it the most.)

There is a bona fida Sunoco in Gravenhurst downtown (not far from where we finish, but unfortunately there is nothing out on 169 / Bay rd.) Might be worthwhile to work out a pitstop on the way out of town / back onto the highway, but we can figure that out at the time it happens.

Reminder: bring your walkie-talkies!

Footman 07-04-2012 05:36 PM

We already have a stop at Gravenhurst to get gas, so it will be no issue.

Thanks for the detour update, I will keep that in mind this Saturday on Switch Rd.

mafiaboy01 07-05-2012 02:49 PM

I was able to book of Saturday so I hope the weather will be okay.

Footman 07-05-2012 05:07 PM

It should be okay. Say it might rain lightly in morning but clear up in afternoon so that's OK. Plus we heading north too so we are leaving the dark cloud behind. Clouds generally head from west to east.

RevRx8 07-05-2012 05:07 PM

Hey guy's I might not be able to come anymore due to work. Its a 50/50 chance i might come

Darklight9 07-06-2012 12:24 PM

I cant make it, car still has some issues. :(

maitre 07-06-2012 06:38 PM

Current forecast for Severn Bridge is 70% chance of rain, up to 5mm. :(

(Not that I would skip it for that. I <3 the rain. :D

I guess we will see in the morning.

Footman 07-07-2012 07:20 AM

It's a go! Go! Go! Go!

Weather is holding up.. partly cloudy. Dry in Richmond Hill.

Looking at weathernetwork's radar maps, appears to be clearing as the day rolls by. It all good folks, this maybe a repeat of the same weather 2 years ago for this cruise. Potentially cloudy with small spots of light rain...

See y'all at the Tim's.

I left the walkie-talkier at Margaret's place and it's too far to get it now, was wondering if anyone had an extra set they could bring for me. Thanks.

Neo 07-07-2012 08:29 AM

It's a torrential down pour up here. No signs of letting up.
:(

c_ls 07-07-2012 08:45 AM

I don't mind the rain. Leaving my house in 20 minutes.

scorcherjf 07-07-2012 09:12 AM

Was a pretty bad thunderstorm downtown an hour ago but it's drying up now. Hopefully up north is better =)

edit: checked the animated maps, looks like the rain should be clearing out as the day goes on. I'll be there around 11:30!

Filip_R3 07-07-2012 09:12 AM

me too

Boeuf 07-07-2012 09:23 AM

The weather out in Oshawa is clearing up now too, I'll be heading out shortly.

JordysRX8 07-07-2012 09:29 AM

Heading up soon too will be there by 11:30 =)
