^ Mark Anthony, the snow tires will make all the diff, my 8's unstoppable with 'em, just be mindful of no ground clearance. And forget the 50 pounds, there's nothing easier to control.

And welcome ChristInBen.

Thanks dudes for the welcome....first of, welcome Mark Angelo. I've already Pm'd you about your tire issue, and I'm glad that you are getting all four Pirelli P 240 Snowsports. I currently use them and my RX-8 is fine with them on.

Guys, I do have a question for you....after our snowstorm yesterday, since we have like almost zero ground clearance, my undercarriage went over some snow this morning (the snow was semi-hard) as only the tire tracks were cleaned with the part in between the tracks full of snow, so I hear this loud crunching sound as my RX-8 went over the snow. I was going slow, but do you think there could be any damage from this? I'm asking because when I started my car after work, there was this kind of slight scraping like sound during idle, and my car wasn't moving anywhere because I was warming it up, then the sound got louder a bit with as I revved my engine, but after warming the car up and driving it, the sound disappeared. I then went for a touchless car wash and undercarriage wash, however, I cannot reproduce that sound again. I'll check again tomorrow morning, but any thoughts, and should I be concerned?

God Bless,

Ben.

Well, Should I also add some WEIGHT in the trunk?? Like a 50 pound bag of lime or sand or somethin that I can use as extra weight, and use as emergency in melting snow??

Thanks!

Mark

You'll be fine in the snow with the 4 snows on there. It can be a little dicey on inclines but that's about it. I'm sure most cars are a little dicey on inclines anyway.

Got them today and installed the 240 snowsports!

Hey all!!

UPS dropped them off today, and they were shipped yesterday! So, I got them installed today, since they left me off to do so.. (they saw me slip and slide at work and they said my car was a POS because it couldn't handle in snow, but they wanted to see if those tires really helped).

Well, after I got them installed, I took it for a spin. The roads were so much better than before, no more snow packed roads from all the cars running through.

I did however turn into a few parking lots with pretty descent INCLINES and managed to get IN AND OUT a few times in snow/slush, even on the steep hill/incline!

Snow tires definitely help, and there was a day and night difference in traction and control.

I am now LOOKING forward to the next snow fall that will cover the roads.. and parking lot at work.. I'll show those guys at work that the RX8 is actually very drivable in snow!!!! =) I'm happy and relieved now. Thanks everyone for all your help!

Take care and have a safe and awesome holidays!

Mark
