New Owner - a few questions about my 8

Hello all, I'm a new member here ... been a browser for months and finially picked up my titanium 8 yesterday, so far so good ...

I noticed a few things that I tried to figure out but I couldn't fine much info on ... I tried to search as well but no luck ...

(1) When I turn on the headlights ... I got this green "exterior light on" warning light on the dash ... is that normal? I mean ... it's a warning light ... but wouldn't it be silly to have a light telling you that a light is on?

(2) My front floor mats have a hole for a hook but I couldn't find the hook to hook it onto anywhere ... is that normal as well? My dirver side floor mat is moving everytime I tried to get in and out of the car .... lol ...

(3) I notice quite some vibrations when the car is idle at stop light ... is that normal?

Other than those 3 items ... RX8 is so nice ... I mean it drive so good and all, I'm so happy that I got the car ... hehe ...

Thanks alot ... any inputs would be really appreciated ... I just can't take the dealers' word for answers for these stuff ... I'm sure they will just tell me it's all normal and that ... :D

Thanks!

-Ced

1) Yes, that's normal on many new cars these days. It's green - warning lights are yellow or red! Green is just a status light. My Audi also has the same green lights-on indicator.

2) There is a hook that is supposed to be installed by the dealer as part of their dealer preparation of the new cars. If you don't have it, then the dealer missed a step in the prep - this is a dealer fault. They owe you that hook - you'll have to get them to acknowledge their mistake (maybe they have a bin full of un-installed mat hooks in the back?), and get you a hook installed. They can't argue this point, don't let them off.

3) Completely normal at idle.

Have fun and enjoy!

Regards,
Gordon

Yeah, the earliest Canadian RX-8s had drivers floor mats where the hole for the hook was located offset, and didn't line up with the hook, so many of the dealers left the hook off. After Mazda replaced the drivers side floor mat with the one with the correct hole location, I had them install the hook (which my dealer had left in the trunk with the jack!). It's pretty sad to hear that they're still leaving the mat hooks out of dealer prep work, even though it was only the first month's cars that had the incorrect floor mat!

Regards,
Gordon

At first I didn't like the green light on every time my headlights were on but I got accustomed to it very quickly, now I like the idea of knowing for sure that my lights are on.

It's a bit like the digital spedo... I didn't like it at first but now it's just fine.
