just one thing about the .to domain...

I have done some research on this and this is available.. but the only thing is that it's an international domain therefore the price for the domain is more expensive then the .com. it cost like 100 us + dollars for 2 yrs instead of like 5 to 10 dollars for the .com to register.

Does anyone know where I can register this domain for a cheaper price if this rx8club.to gets voted.

I am starting this club by myself right now and I don't really want to spend so much money just to register the domain.

any input would be great.

... that's funny though, cuz .to is really owned by the Kindom of Tonga, yet people assume it's for Toronto.

I have an unrelated question, I did a search and couldn't find it anywhere. Do you know if a poll has been done to find out how many lady owners we have in the club?

Well the purpose of this web and club is to dedicate the owners in Toronto. Nothing too special but I think we should have a club of our own, that's all. As I checked there isn't a Toronto RX8 club yet and from the last meet we had, we decided its a good idea to have one that represents our city.

Uhmm yes maybe we should create a new thread, a poll of how many ladies are in Toronto with RX8.

Brings up a good point. We could ask those in power here if we could branch off their site. Have a forum that is dedicated to the Toronto RX-8 Club. We save $ from maintaining a site and avoid from bouncing forum to forum. This could also help in that when we do club buys or whatever that most of those who deal with the 8 are here anyway. That's my 2 cents. BTW I'll be travelling to Oz...that's Australia, and posted a thread up see what is to do there and got a response from a member of a club there. If things move quick enough, I guess I'll be the first rep from Toronto to Sydney .

Anyway, back on topic..Name of club we seem to have one. Website, that's up to the majority and especially he/she who will maintain it. Like I mentioned above, it could be advantageous to make our mark here. What do you thinkk?

I know it's alot of work to maintain a site, but just thought we could have our own webpage etc... A little bit more special, since there is a TOprotege club, a to mazda 3 club etc... it would be nice to have our own.

I don't mind building a webpage for our club since I can learn more about web development and I think its fun.

Yeh me still looking at .to and almost all the sites I've been to cost about the same.

I researched setting up a bulletin board type of site for one of my clients, it is not as simple as a web page. There are sites out there that allow you to configure your site off their engine. Were you thinking of having a similar type of site as this one or something a little more simple? It might make sense to see if they will allow you to branch off of the Canada Forum since all of the infrastructure already exists here. BTW I went golfing in Cambridge this AM saw a silver RX-8.

Aloha back, just letting you know that you bumped a 9 year old thread so it's a good idea to check the dates before repling.

Alot of guys deal with Scarborough Mazda as a dealer if that's what your looking
for, they do give discounts to guys in the RX8 club from what I'm told.
I haven't had the need to go there as of yet with only 30,000km on my R3.

As for events keep your eyes on the Canadian forum (GTA thread) for meets.There is also a end of season meet coming up on October 5th or 6th, still trying to nail
down a date.
