N Flash in Toronto
N Flash in Toronto
Hi,
Has anyone in Toronto gotten their cars flashed with the new PCM version N? I went to my dealership today and they don't know anything about it. If anyone has gotten this done in Toronto, please post the dealership that performed this so that others can go and get it done.
Also, for those who have gotten their cars flashed. Does it improve the gas consuption of the car? I've also read reports about the acceleration improving at low rpms.
Thanks!

I think the dealers know it more as the update version ... WDS 35.5 or something (ask Gord). My dealer knows it as the SSP61. I believe that's what's printed on the invoice. I remember when I first got the M flash ... the service people didn't know what it was but when I mentioned MSP04 they were all over it.
The N Flash is also known as, or is included in SSP #61. Your dealership may recognize that descriptor. Having said that, the knowledgeable RX8 Mazda dealers would have known that. There is another thread on this subject, with posts from Toronto owners, on the Canadian Forum. Do a search, or just scroll further down the list of topics.
it exists.. don't say N flash. Just ask them to run your VIN through their systems and if there is any outstanding bulletins they'll find it. And it was listed on my invoice as ssp61. I've had it for a week and have put approx. 1000km since i've had it and there HAS been a milage increase. I have not changed my driving habits and pre flash i'd get just below 300km/tank. But now i'm pushing about 320km at the just below quarter tank mark..

Hey MacDude
Phone around the dealerships close to you, that way you won't have to drive far if one of them has it close to you. It's called SSP #61. I mentioned in a previous thread a couple months ago, what exactly they do and the flash covers.
In case no dealership has it in your area, I got mine done at Ontario Mazda, at the 401 and Dixie area.
Gas mileage drops a bit, not too much though from what i've noticed, and I really never noticed any real power gains, as I got it done during all the snow falls and was only usually driving my car to work in traffic at that time, so really couldn't tell.
Hope this helped you out

Gas Consumption
What kind of gas mileage do you guys get for your car? I get 6.5 km/L city driving (325 km for 50 liters), and 8.8 km/L highway driving (440 km for 50 liters). This is well below what Mazda claims on their website. I bought my car in May 2004 (GT 6-speed). Saugaboy, you said you noticed a difference with the N-flash - do you have numbers before and after?
Thanks.
Thanks.
