Exclamation MY ECModule lost its mind

So, there I was creeping and crawling along 401 east at Salem Road at 4:30 pm yesterday when as I gently braked, with a slight grinding sound from the ABS, my instrument panel lit up like the proverbial Xmas tree-every icon, symbol and some I had never seen before; the electronic speedometer read 0.

It hadn't stalled, oil pressure and engine temp were normal, so I drove 'with extreme caution' all the way to my dealership.
Steve, the RX8 guru there put in on the analyzer. Ten minutes later he came back with a long printout of 'faults', although on restart it reset to 'normal' . He said it's quite driveable under these conditions, but if it happens again to bring it back in. As the central module that's at fault is behind the dash it would require at least 4-6 hours to be replaced. Fully covered by warranty.

Just curious: is this a one-off anomaly or has anyone else else heard of or experienced it?

i had sorta the same related problem....for some reason at times my ABS light would go on out of no where, mostly when i was stopped and my two 10's would start pounding continous bass until the light would turn off. one time i just happened to be right beside a cop who was writing someone a ticket. but luckily nothing happened. as far as the speed o meter i had it drop to 0 once but never happened again.

Thanx for the reply, mikey8. Will post if it recurs and Steve at Whitby Mazda has any more 'light' to shed on the issue.
