Mazda says its my air pump, it apparently injects air into the exhaust under c9old start conditions. Anyone ever heard of this? I sure haven't.

 

Well my intake is in. I still think it sounds like a cow. At least my car is obscenely loud now.

I'll admit, the cow-like tone probably does go away in the higher rpms but I drove drove home in rush hour so I haven't heard it yet. I'm going to need to find something to do with those 2 mazdaspeed stickers though. It's the only sticker I'd use.

The thing barely cracks 90db when you're fully on it. LOL!!

When I went to the Mazdaspeed event the modded RX-8 sounded so much better with intake and exhaust! True rotary!
Stock RX-8 sounded like a little sewing machine. Until you started to rev it really hard.. Then it got a bit better.
But definitely sounds better with the intake and exhaust! Give it a bit of muscle!

i just had mine installed, installed it my self, it was fine for a while with no cel , but now my cel came on , going to bring it to dealer to find out what's wrong, hope it's nothing bad...

quick question for those who have the intake. Are you suppose to leave that sock on the filter?

 

I've never had the CEL come on. I understand that you should keep the sock on. Did you drive it in heavy rain without the sock? Not sure if too much moisture may have been sucked up without the sock. Don't panic, I don't know if this is the problem or not, but unless you got the hoses mixed up, that's the only thing I can think of. The dealer installed mine.

Also, I asked this before and someone referredme to the for sale section, but i was 2 days late.. I'm looking for a Mazdaspeed Sport Dual Exhaust. Know anywhere I can get one in Canada (new or used) without paying some obscene price?

Or does anyone know of a "service" in buffalo i could have something shipped to, then go and pick it up to bring across the border myself?

I got my MazdaSPEED CAI this week. I am loving it so far. Car seems to be more responsive; I can feel boost in throttle; I love the sound!

So, now i am wondering.. is this in my head or does the 8 get more power?
