Yesterday had to fill-up @ fuel light on 320 Km, was thrashing it the last few days, shifting range 4500 to 8500, it's the nice weather!
Best I've every gotten was 410 Km straight highway@ 125-130
Just STOP THINKING ABOUT IT

Around 300 in the winter.. 350 in the summer.. mix of city/hwy driving.. but my driving is "spirited".

Then again, I didn't buy my 8 for mpg. If mpg was on my mind, I would stick with toyota or honda.

I get between 180miles - 200miles per tank all the time. No difference in seasons and very very little difference if I drive like a granny or drive it like I stole it. Guess which way I drive it hehe. I have gotten 220 miles once and I dont know why. It was right after an oil change and I added Gumout to my gas tank after not premixing for 2 fillups. I premix with about 5oz mmo. At next fillup it went back to normal.

Amazing revelation

I am getting the same if not better mileage driving around in city traffic between 4000 - 5000 rpm than in 3000 - 4000 rpm...

SO the bonus of this is better power delivery in the former range vs the latter.

Who would have thought, better power at higher rmp's with a rotory engine!

The key point I'm making here is the fact that potentially there is better fuel consumption at a higher RPM where stop and go traffic is concerned.

A report from some phD in Europe said that accelerate 75% to 100% throttle then coast down to normal save more gas than constant rpm....

http://metrompg.com/posts/speed-vs-mpg.htm
http://www.offroaders.com/tech/impro...as-mileage.htm

Extreme

Generally, the recommended way to hypermile is using only the common techniques. However, extreme hypermilers have been known to use some controversial techniques:

* drafting behind trucks
* driving far below the speed limit at times
* taking sharp curves at high speeds (to avoid losing energy to braking)
* coasting with the engine off
* passing red lights or stop signs in areas of low traffic
* over-inflating tires to reduce rolling resistance

THAT ONE I CAN DEFINITELY DO LOL

That's weird, I get better mpg in the winter as long as there no snow!
Always thought it was the cold denser air?

Wont this increase the the wear on the tires?
So, better gas mileage but lower tread life...

I thought the same. Apparently, I was wrong. Supposedly, the engine has to work harder to get & stay warm. I have stopped looking at the mileage to be honest. Life is more peaceful.

If you didn't know what I was talking about, it's called going WOT and some nice powerslides. But I do go WOt at 7-8k once or twice every 2 days.

I think it's located on the passenger side floorboard. Well that's where my passengers try to use it anyways. lol

LMAO!! you mean they actually have enough time to reach for the brake before they're thrown against the door/centre console while freaking out?

I just got 12.7 L/100KM on Shell V-Power!! which is like 50L running 395km or so, best run i've done so far and it was half city and half highway, occasionally spirited driving but then again i don't rev high and keep it up a lot, usually am under 6k unless i'm redlining just to clear out the carbon residue.

THREAD REVIVAL BATMAN!!!!

Just wanna report the most recent tank.... 12.49 MPG or 18.17 L / 100km...

This is with cruising at one hundred and thirty kilometers per hour plus, and like minimum 10 - 15 redlines per day...

also hit speeds that I cannot mention here several times for short bursts..... (i.e. 4th gear redlines)

So considering all that has been said, it's pretty good fuel economy!

got 256.4 km for 46.6L of fuel.

Oh yeah today was -16 outside! Fun fun!

What is everybody getting so far this season?
