Long Wait... Complain?

Hey guys,
I know many people have waited 2-3 months for their RX-8s. I ordered my '05 WB RX-8 GT early August, and they originally told me I would be driving it within 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, they told me 2 more weeks and it would get to Vancouver then to Calgary. Well, after those 2 weeks, they told me it would be in soon...Now they estimate it would be in within the next week or two, they claim it's in Vancouver right now.
I want to know if this has happened to anyone else, did the dealer keep giving incorrect dates?? It seems they want to keep me set for a RX-8 because originally I was going to buy the Mazda 3 from them instead. Do you think I'd get discount on acessories/parts if I complain or a cheaper price on the car (because they said the 2006s would be arriving around December)?? I'm currently set for $40500 GT WITHOUT taxes...Any help would be nice.

Thanks!

What dealer are you working with? Something is fishy in your story - if you ordered in early August, you were ordering a 2006 - unless it was existing dealer stock somewhere. Mazda would have switched production on the factory line from 2005 to 2006 models by July.

It's possible they were waiting for the last shipment of 2005s to come into port - but again, there are 2006 Mazdas on the dealer lots right now, they start arriving in mid-September usually. So, if you're waiting for a 2005, it's not likely in port, it's one they're trying to get off a different Mazda dealer's lot. To be careful, I haven't heard yet if '06 RX-8s are on the lots yet - check out the RX-8 Discussions forum section and see if anyone is posting about taking delivery of an '06 yet. Canadian deliveries are usually only 1 or 2 weeks later than the US.

Oh, I waited for my '04 RX-8 for over 4 months, some people waited 6 months in the US. :p

Regards,
Gordon

I agree with Gordon. They are most likely waiting for a car from another dealership. 2006's will not be delivered until January 2006 and 2005 are already here. I would complain and try and get a discount or some extras.

I waited 3 months for my car. I was one of the first buy groups. It was expected in June. It didn't get delivered until August. I had to go without a car for almost a whole summer. Because the car wasn't built yet I was unable to get anything from Madza. However, since I was a pre-order I got 500.00 plus free service for 3 years due to the horsepower mix up.

Go back to the dealer, tell him you would rather get an '06. You'll see how fast you get the car......

You know, Canada IS a different country - we have our own dollar, not the US dollar, and Mazda Canada has completely different pricing, in Canadian dollars, than Mazda USA does. Before saying the price is too high, you might want to actually have some reference or basis in fact other than blatantly wrong assumptions using US$ and US pricing as your reference!

I got my 04 GT for undr 40k with all taxes in. Blue Frenzy has posted in the Canadian forum his bill of sale. He got a similar deal me me.

How much cash of your have they got. If I had to wait this long, I would be in the dealers face tellign them either to produce the car or give me my money back.
This just sounds all wrong.

Hey littlerx-8,

Does your car have NAV? If so, that isn't a bad price. If not, you aren't getting a 'great deal'. You should be able to knock about $5k off of MSRP (taxes, etc are extra).

Good luck, and you will absolutely LOVE your car!

Anyway to import them from US dealers. Every time I am at my dealership in Bel Air MD (about a 10 hour drive from Toronto) I see at least 4 or 5 on the lot with huge discounts (US between 27-33 depending on options) and in many colors, even the rare green.

How hard is it to get one of these to Canada. If it isn't, I can see if one the dealers I trust here can contact you and begin arrangements...

PSB

once all the duties, fees and taxes are done, it isn't worth it.
