Hi All,

New guy here!

Just bought an 04 RX-8 a couple months back, she is black exterior and 2 tone black and orange interior; if you have seen me around.

I have noticed a couple of RXers in the area, and was wondering if there were gatherings or anything local? If not, would anyone be adverse to parking lot gatherings now and then?
I realize we are heading into winter and all, but it would be cool to meet n greet before the snow fell.

I am also looking for recommendations for good local performance shops, I tried to contact RPM but was informed the shop had closed. I did talk to Mark at Marken Performance today, he didn't balk at the idea of working on a rotary, though they seem to focus on Domestic Muscle.

Cheers

Tim

hello, congrats, and welcome tim. Im actually from guelph. there are only a few people in the area that are enthusiasts it seems and they dont seem to be very active on the boards or in the group events we do. there arent any local gatherings either. most events seem to happen in TO.

as for RPM, its very unfortunate. they joined up with the new union for a while, but now joe and all his experience has fled to scarborough to get a real job. lol.

I myself work at guelph city mazda as an apprentice and i have plenty of experience with installing mods on rx8s...just ask some of the locals. lol.

Hope to see you around.

Yup Pickering is a little bit of a drive! But if it is worth it, then its only gas and time well spent with your baby

Thats unfortunate, I have received a number of waves on the road, and hoped the drivers would be here.

The guy i sopke to at Weber Rollcages gave me Joe's number, but i feel awkward calling him up (as it is probably his home number or something) But if you are as close a Guelph i may just have to stop by and pick your brain a bit.

Cheers, and thanks for the welcome

I know there are 3 on the Laurier Campus for sure (2 white ones, and 1 black) However I think only 1 of them is driven all year round (or at least from what I've noticed). Mine is already away unfortunately but welcome to the club!

Nope, bought it from Kieswetter down on *Edit* King near sportsworld drive

ya, kinda sux. there is one guy in a 40th AE thats always good for a wave back. i've sort of stopped waving at 8s in the area though. theres a white R3 in and around cambridge i see all the time. i waved at the lady once. we were both stuck in "traffic" in oposite directions door to door. i waved, she looked at me with this really angry look. i was dispointed. if you are driving a special edition...you are suposed to know what it is. i just want a wave back. haha.

and yeah, stop by whenever. I'll give you some pointers to help you through the winter. haha. preferably in the next week or so, in the lul before winter tire season kicks off. i wont have 10 seconds to even say "hi" once the season is in full swing.

Please don't take it to Marken Performance. I don't mean to bash them but my experience with them is that they are not interested in imports.

Lots of people to take it to in the gta area if you need rotary specific help. General maintenance can be done anywhere.

Oh, and welcome to the forums. Unfortunately I will be moving out of the KW area, although my car will still be here.

The last RX-7 I saw at Marken had the firewall all cut out of it and a huge iron block V8 jammed in it.

Dont feel awkward giving me a call, I'm always down with trying to help.

4 days late on this one.... sorry.
I live in Kitchener!
I also drive a black GT and wave to people in 8's. Some have waived back, others look at me like I have a giant boogie in my upper lip...
I waved at a black 8 a couple weeks back on Fariway up near the River Rd intersection. May have been you?

And Joe is a good guy. I bought a tail light off him a while back.
