"K" Frame is Bent????
"K" Frame is Bent????
I'm still fairly new to this site, and new to owning an RX-8, so bare with me please!!!
I recently found out my car was in an undisclosed accident, so I took the car in for a 55 point incpection at my local dealership. They noticed the "K" frame was bent. So I was told to bring it to a body shop to check it out. They said it's not worth trying to bend back into shape, and should just get a new one. He suggested using ebay to cut the cost but I can't find anything of that name on ebay.
Just wondering what the name of the part I should be looking for, and if anyone knows where I can get one at a good price.
I'd greatly appreciate it!!!

I'm sorry stupid me, I put it in the title but not the body.
It says the "K" Frame. It holds the suspenstion in place, and since mine is bent my left tire is further back in the wheel well than the right.

"K" frame is the engine cradle on the late-60's, early 70's Dodge/Chrysler products. lol.
The pic above is the front crossmember. I suspect, from reading your post, that you are actually looking for the rear crossmember.
Either way, its a basic mechanical job that the mechanic will almost definitely screw up.

I have no doubt the Mazda dealer will skrew it up. I'll bring it to my personal mechanic, cause I know if he does skrew it up, he'll at least fix the skrew up for free.
I'm pretty sure it's the front one that I need, cause it's the front drivers side tire that is sitting an inch or so back in the wheel well. I'm pretty sure from what I saw when I was under the car, that the pic that 9krpmrx8 first put up is the part I need. which I am assuming is the front Crossmember.
I do have a friend who works at a wrecking yard and he is searching the North American database for wreaking yards to see if any have one. So here is hoping!!!!
Yeah, Subframe is what I'm seeing everywhere else too!!! Thanks for all your help guys, I'm lovin this fourm with all the knowledge from all the members.

Makes me feel like I'm not alone during this sad time, while my girl is hurting,

One thing to look at it how sub or K frames get bent. 1st all you have to do is bounce the car over a tall speed bump and you can damage the sub frame. Something can pop up on the highway at speed and put bend in the sub frame. Just because it has a bend doesnt mean its junk. A simple alignment can tell you if you need to replace it or not.
