I can see if you're leasing the car you won't be caring much about the winter damage... but for those who are financing, that's a different story...

Sucks to hear about all the problems you've had Pete... You can never predict what's going to happen out on the road... there's just too many people who don't know how to drive, respect, or care about another person's car... Most of these people care about the car getting them from A to B...

They say the average car owner changes their car after 4-5yrs... simply because curiousity gets the better of them or they get bored with their present car... Some people are crazy at changing cars every 2yrs!!

I've had my car 7yrs now, and I have yet to see or drive a car that I would want instead.... within budget of course... If anyone wants to give me a new Ferrari F430 I'm not going to stop them...

Lates,

Just tucked mine away until next March. It's not so much driving in the snow - thankfully a rare occurence in Victoria - but the salt used on the roads. The main road I travel has so much salt on it that it turns white for most of the winter. Add that to the salt in the air and I'm sure you will understand. In the meantime, I have put my old reliable Intrepid back on the road - drives like a boat in comparison. March seems so long away!

Lates,

If Mazda doesn't bring back the 7, I might have to settle for a 3rd gen. My daily driver will be the porsche cayman

Cause we all know that the 7 can only come out when mars is in line with jupiter.

A Cayman?!?! Oh, you mean the Boxter with a hardtop welded on top... lol

And for your information, the 7 comes out whenever it needs to come out.... for example last night... really nice night to go driving.... too bad you can't say the same about tonight...

Are you ever coming out again to the mini-meets???

The 8 is my only car now so I don't really have a choice but to drive it in winter. :D
I used to drive my Accord while my Miata was parked for the winter but I traded both for the 8.

I'm prepared with Blizzak LM25's on an extra set of OEM wheels.

Only question now is should I bother getting undercoating for the car?

Lates,

Yeah, I'm just playing with ya. I will try to make a meet or two b4 the end of the year but I'm kinda broke these days. I invested into a few businesses and I'm working almost 24/7. Hopefully it will start paying off soon so I can enjoy my life again. You know the old saying "no pain no gain".

BTW the cayman is wayy sweeter then the boxster. It's a true sportscar. I'd love to see a new rx-7 that has some of the caymans lines.

I'm with Pete...having lived thru those winters in both TO and Calgary, the salt drops are enough to kill most cars, especially a nice lowered 8. Death to paint jobs and the undercarriage and really soils the engine bay, suspension, etc. Why put up with it...get a cheap snow bammer for the next four months, bring yer 8 out again in April or May. I drive in Sing and Malaysia all year round and I simply couldn't image my 8 being pummelled by the salt and grit....rear wheel drive notwithstanding

I love driving my RX8 during the winter, I feel very safe (with very good winter tires of course), peace of mind driving a car that will actually make it from point A to point B without any problem....I see to many cars on the side of the road with trouble in the worst condition, no thank you !! I protect my paint with a seallant and also under it, I always go to LIKENEW in Belleville, they do an excellent job to protect my baby, and the price is right too...This only my 2 cents worth.

Nobody's in the wrong for driving their 8's in the winter time. To each their own .
I gave it a shot and it didn't work out for me.

Wishing everyone driving the 8/7 or anyother car for that matter a safe winter.

Just make sure the car's heater is working
