Ice Scraper and Brush

I did a search and found this https://www.rx8club.com/general-automotive-49/ice-scraper-45203/ but it didn't answer my question.

Does anybody have a recommendation on a brush for getting the snow off of the non-windowed portions of the RX-8 ? I really don't want to scratch the paint using the old brush I have.

The one I use is a standard ice scraper/brush on the window. I don't bother brushing the snow off the rest of the car (ie hood). For the headlights I just use my glove to brush off the snow.

It's illegal for cars to have snow on the hood, roof, trunk, blocking lights and license plates, but apparently everyone does it So I guess you shouldn't worry too much about cleaning the snow off I guess.

I clear it off the hood and roof for two reasons:

1. the car just looks better without the snow on it
2. I don't want it blowing such that I can't see

It's not really a big issue for me. It's parked in the garage at home and I primarily work at home. But for the once a week when I do go into the office and it snows, that's when I'd like to clean it off.

If nobody else is trusting a brush enough to not scratch the paint, then I won't either.

Really??? I've never heard of this by-law. Just one of those silly ones I guess. I can see why snow should be cleared from head lights and license plates, but the roof and hood??? Crazy

If the brush is not handy, I basically stick my arm out any wipe it off usually with one swoop. From the windshield down the hood on each side and then up from the bottom of the windshield over top the roof and down along the trunk on each side. At that point, I'm good to go. I usually have a leather coat/jacket without buttoms or zippers so no risk of scratching the car.

I guess you haven't driven behind someone who didnt remove the snow from their car. I find it annoying.

Yeah, I have the same question too, since I park the car outdoors where I work, and winter is coming. Is there any snow brush that won' scratch up the car's paint? I'm tempted to use something like a chamois wrapped around my fists to do that job.

I never did buy a brush. I just don't trust any on the paint. But I'd still take any recommendations.

Warm up the car and wait for the snow to melt off the roof.

we are talking about the typical GTA winter storm here. It can be inches thick! ahhh the memories of brushing snow and scraping ice off the windshield while having one's ears freeze solid. Then wait inside the car for the defroster to rid the windshield off icesheets and hold the breath to not cause more fog condensation. No worries now. I just need to make sure I have a good umbrella.

Last year wasnt that bad...if you can just soften the bottom of it up a bit, a regular brush will remove it. though there was a time when I couldnt even get my trunk open cuz it was sealed with a layer of ice

I had a sheet of ice fly off the roof of a car, fly up in the air, land in front of me on the hwy like a wall of ice and i had little time to brake. My rx8 broke through the sheer of ice.
Luckily, no dmg on the car. I drove up to note the license plate of the car that had the ice to call him up incase i had dmg but i did not.

Ice on the roof of a car is very dangerous people. I did not use to believe it till this past winter when I had a few adventures with my rx8!

Use those car wash brush with soft bristle. Works like a charm and won't harm your paint.

remote starter + activating 20 mins before you go out = little to no snow or ice.
