Iam an Idiot

Well I drive a beater for the winter. Last fri. the temp dipped below -10, so I wake up on sat. mor to go to get my haircut and guess what my beater won't start, there is power but it won't crank, even tapping the starter with a hammer didn't work. So i take my sister's car which is a 2004 mazda 3 and on bayview/major mac guess what I see a dude driving a Shinka, just wished at the moment that I had one of those boot hooked up to a pulley with a rope so I can kick myself in the butt

6 more weeks of winter.. The RX-8 handles the snow like a champ. I'm surprised that the cabin doesn't get all that warm, considering the heatsoak issue in the summer.

Here's a little montage of summer..

I still drive my 8 everyday in the winter. I have an 80km commute to the office (when not at clients) so I put hte mileage on. NEver any toruble up in Stouffville which is just inside the snowbelt region.

Love that winter!

hahahaha I was thinking the same thing, after hearing the horror stories (I have not experienced summer in the RX-8 yet). Not a problem for me...I set the auto climate control in our other car to 16.5C...

BTW how does the RX-8 handle Corner 2??

No problem of heating, defrost work great on mirror and window...
Dont only pointy thing is that i find the heated seat that take too much time to heat!...my other mazda3 was very fast and my friend VW are going faster also to heat up my ***...:O)

it's -20 or less here in Toronto today, and I'm still seeing Porsche 911s. All dirty and ****.

I find the RX-8's ***-warmers pretty good/fast already =)

Maybe you have less padding than he does. That's what I tell my GF when she complains that it takes too long or isn't hot enough

Shuts her up, even though her *** is a nice, healthy size.

That was probably me the original poster saw in the Shinka. I snagged the winter tire kit (17" rims with Toyo Garit HTs) and this is my second winter and so far, so good. I will say though that this year I have to park outdoors and that is making me grit my teeth in worry every morning when I have to carve the car out of an ice block.

Thankfully I'm in the GTA. My 1st RX8 winter was in London (ON) which is in the snow belt and let's just say there were days that scoop at the front was fricking plowing my street. It got damaged too but the dealer fixed it under warranty. If it wasn't for the relative lowness of the car however, no problem!

50/50 weight differential, Stability/Traction Control, Limited Slip Diff, Heated Seats, RWD (yes I actually prefer RWD in the winter. Something to do with intuitively controlling/countering skids better) and some excellent snow tires... What more can you want? Ok, ok more height (to avoid the snow plow effect) and AWD or 4x4 would be nice, but certainly not required, especially in the GTA.

Cool, if it was you I saw then man you got a nice ride, it was nice and shiny that sunny morning all other cars were dirty and your car stood out the most because it was very clean............

do you guys notice sometimes that north of highway 7 always gets hit with a blizzard, the moment you go south of 7 it stops like there is some kind of invisible wall or GOD hates us 905ers
