I hate mondays and I have to post, Death of Christine

IN car video of first race on that Sunday, 28th to 9th position, Ontario GT G70 race, Mosport International Raceway

Its already Thursday but whatever...here goes my story (also read Driver's report):

A not so long time ago, in a GTA Mazda dealership close to you, lies a rotary
monster called "Christine".

She has a bad temper, and she goes mental randomly. However, on a good day,
she can beat down the big V8 boys with 2 foot flames spitting out of her
back.

Who is Christine? She is the Rx-7 FC race car that Al is running in Scarboro
Mazda. One of the only dealerships that actually cares about motorsports
at all.

She started her life straight from the factory to becoming a race car. She never
experienced a normal street driving life. Maybe that's why she doesn't appreciate
all the love and sweat we give to her.

Throughout the 2008 season, we've been through a blown apex seal, bad clutch,
etc ...and we worked tirelessly to fix her up and be competitive. The
end of August race was excellent, we finished 3rd over all. Last Sunday supposed to
be our 1st victory, since we knew what Christine is capable of compared
to the boys she ran against.

Last Sunday was a cloudy one. Or you can call gloomy Sunday. It was a typical
story. We were about 5 minutes away from victory,
we were 1st in class and 3rd overall, after starting from 28th position.

Al was putting in his fastest personal laps at Mosport, in the 1m 36 second range, then
he smelt something funny and saw smoke in the cockpit. Its not from
the car in front... it was from Christine.

Al pulled into the pits. Then the horror....Al was lucky that
there was no fire, with all the engine oil in the cockpit...

As you can see, the taste of victory was so close, yet so far away. Al was
sad and very frusterated.

After watching other drivers congratulate each other on the podium, we trailer
the "bitch" back to dealership. (Notice the name change lol)

After cooling off for 24 hours, Al cannot help himself and goes back to check
Christine. He was still mad at her, he kept asking her "Why you gotta
be like that, eh?"

On Tuesday night, we summoned the God of Rotary - Mark from New Mazmark
Auto to look at the engine. He built the heart of Christine, and he is going
to see whats wrong with her.

Problem found! Epoxy that sealed the original port expanded under extreme
heat and the side seal has scuffed against it...

The damage is relatively light but still expensive....I wish she got OHIP
albeit I don't think so...anyone wanna sponsor us? We can even change her name
if....lol

Regardless, viva la rotary!

Good Story. Next year I'll have to make it out to some of these races.

I don't think my company sponsors race teams, but I'll find out.

are you a narrator? well told! Mazda Canada as a whole should be sponsoring this car, seriously and be paying Al to drive it.

I really hope one of the directors/VP in Corporate Mazda Canada office who still loves motorsport can read this and help out...oh well I can only wish.

Dude contact them (if you haven't already) and Mazda USA and Mazdaspeed USA and sell yourselves. Al racing the way he does with that car, on a rotary speaks volumes of what the rotary engine can do. They would be stupid not to sponsor one of their own cars and especially a Mazda BM driver, how much better could they ask for?

If they don't want to sponsor it, find out which companies they hate the most as a whole and go after them hehe. That's what I would do if it was me.

tradgic. your first mistake was naming the car christine. lol. that set you up for a nightmare. i kid i kid. i called my first car christine cause she was so good to you most of the time, but then wouldnt run or let you down when it counted most. Good luck next season though.
