Huge Early Pics of my fat Red RX-8 (NOT DIALUP FRIENDLY AT ALL)

**DIALUP USERS TURN BACK NOW...YOU ARE NOW ENTERING THE HIGH BANDWIDTH ONLY ZONE...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED**

As I mentioned in previous threads, I've got the side deflectors and rear spoiler on backorder...should be here within the next two weeks. Against my better judgement (rotorian ), here is bunch of interim shots:

Whoops, that isn't it...(is my brother in his Protege 5 with a 350Z owner )

Here's the real stuff:

Take a look at how gorgeous the red metallic paint is...the pic doesn't even do it justice. Absolutely gorgeous in the sunshine.

I also wanted to give a sneak peek to people ordering accessories...here's what I have on the vehicle so far:

Front Rotary Crest:

Rear Rotary Crest:

Front Air Dam:

Front Mud Flap:

Rear Deflectors & Exhaust Finishers (you can actually see them!):

I'll post the car with its final accessories when they come in...still loving this beautiful car!

Nice!

The red is so gorgeous, especially up close. Looks like the flat red on the Miata, and then you get up close and those sparkles start showing up. Congrats on your car- it's amazing how fast you get attached to them, isn't it??

Um, with respect to the Protege 5 pic...

Is the 350Z owner the guy in the passenger seat, or the big blue gorilla?

Otherwise, congratulations That red is beautiful, and the accessories look great. Looking forward to seeing you at some of our Toronto gatherings!

Congrats on the car. Looks great!

I noticed you went with rear deflector as opposed to rear mud flaps. Any particular reason?

I want to get more accesories like mud flaps, but I'm pondering on rear deflector or rear mud flap.

Hi Bulldog....thanks...the rear deflectors are meant to go with the side deflectors (which I also ordered). They match the profile and shape better. There is no such thing as "front deflectors"...so I had to grab the mud flaps.

It will probably make more sense when you see both of them on the car.

Hi guys, i'm a new member and new owner of a red RX-8 as well. This car is awesome. I had a 1985 RX-7 GSL and loved every minute of the 5 years i had it. Got my car 5 days ago and i,m at 1645 Km already. Call me crazy but i can't stay away from it.

How many Kms so far?

Have you considered the Clear Bra? I probably will do that shortly.

I've ordered just the front mud flaps to try and help fend off stone chips.

Answers my question. That's where I'm debating between just rear flappers or deflectors. Send lots of pics when you get them on.

Thanks Mark,

The only accessory I'm still on the fence about is the side strakes...I've seen pics to them and they look AMAZING...only I think they are in the neighborhood of $500 here.

Did you order any?

Hi rotorian,

got about 500km so far...my drives to work (in TO) will keep that increasing.

Thinking about the clear bra...although I love the clean lines on the hood without it. How's your 8 treating you?

I'm going to be seeing the dealer about two things:

-The floormat pin / ring not installed
-The air conditioning (cycling on and off)

Aside from that, I find myself taking random cruises in this thing just because it is so fun!

i'm up to 1700 Kms already in 6 days... pathetic isn't it? :-) I was on vacation last week so i almost slept in it.

I will see the dealer for the pin and the AC as well and for about 1 minute the oil light come on the other day... checked it and it was almost full so i'll mention it as well to the dealer. Anyone had that happen as well?

My car is great, around 1600 km now. I have to admit I'm now noticing the a/c cycling off and on, and when you first get in the car, it takes a while to cool to a tolerable level.

I noticed the mat bunching up right away, although I did not get any bracket thingy at all.

Also noticing soot in the exhaust pipes as mentioned in a thread in the general forum.

I just ordered some touch up paint, so I can try and fix the stone chip I got the first day on the door.

With regards to the clear bra, I don't think it will look too bad if you just did up to the hood line. in other words, just the bumper, and possibly the mirrors.

I'm at 2400 kms and I'll be going in for an initial oil change this coming week. I checked my oil this morning while filling up. First time I did this. Maybe it's me, but I'm sure not impressed with the colour and shape of the dipstick. Bad enough you need to be a contortionist to remove it, once out, I had great difficulty reading it. I'm used to a flat silvery dipstick that shows oil level easily. This dipstick is the same colour as the oil, and the dipstick is round as opposed to being flat. I sure hope someone comes out with a better dipstick.

Don't forget to put it behind the door handles, it protects the car from keys and fingernails. I had mine done on Saturday however due to the Canadian bumpers being different than the US cars (the pissers and around the fog lights) the bumper template will not be available for another two to three weeks. I will post pictures when it's complete.

That's news to me; why the diference in US vs. Canadian bumpers, and does it affect the appearance much?

Other than the pissers there is a small differance around the fog lights. It may be due to the differant bumper rugulations, personally the differance is not noticable.
